huge loss for showtime, would not surprise me if thyey have a break out clause after 2-3 fights, floyd needs to fight canelo next since pac is gone or he may find himself without a network
people are saying 1m ppv is good as it is a little loss, are you guys smoking?
if showtime need 1.1-1.2m ppv to break even, they stand to lose potentially around 14-15m which is huge
Why such a low prediction? Leonard Ellerbe said Floyd is the cash cow and predicted it would break showtime records.
I thought this fight would do 1.1-1.25 ppv buys since it was his comeback bout.
But from what casual fans were telling they would say who cares? the Pacquiao fight is already dead.
Casuals and Mexican fight fans who love toe to toe action are the most important demographic they are the ones who bring the money not the few 1 percent diehards who many of them just watch streams online.
because floyd used pacs name to generate more ppv buys, whether anyone likes it or not, he used pacs name to sell his ppv but pac did the same
people now know there is 0 chance of the fight happening, this will impact both ppvs
I expect pacs to barely break 800k if I am honest, more around the 700k mark actually, floyds will not do 1m ppv, I am sure they will add around 100k buys to make it look better than it is
I just read this but its floyd so who cares let the hate run free.
Why do you people care?
I care because I subscribe to Showtime only for boxing, and if they're losing money because they've committed so much to Floyd, then I/we lose out if their boxing budget has to take a hit.
Can you imagine not being able to watch Swift vs Lucas/Peterson because no more $ at the end of the year, or Canelo vs Cotto because not enough to guarantee two stars
Ripple effects, I pay good money to subscribe to both premium channels so I expect the best fights to be put on, can't get that if they're losing alot of money.
If around 900K is unsuccessful, than Oscar wasn't that much of a PPV star, because only cracked 1 million 4 times.
Can't compare the two Oscar was a power house compared to may. Marketing was diffrent then, so Iam pretty sure may would not have done as good as Oscar back then
I'd be shocked, seemed like Saturday night all my friends on twitter and Facebook (who aren't boxing fans) were talking about it, Monday morning at work everyone was talking about it
