As I understand the Showtime deal Floyd gets at least 32 million for every fight no matter who he fights. I am sure he will never fight Canelo because he could have fought him instead of Guerrero. As long as Floyd makes lots of money without much risk of losing his 0 I don't think he cares what the fans think. I believe his last 5 fights will all be with guys that are now fighting at 140 or 147 and these fights will be fought at the welterweight limit of 147 pounds. Why should fans wait another year for Floyd to fight Canelo? Floyd is the WBA 154 pound superchamp and Canelo is the WBA regular champ and therefore his mandatory. Floyd won this title when he beat Cotto over a year ago. He needs to either fight Canelo for the WBA 154 pound full championship at the 154 pound limit in September or step down from the thrown so Canelo can be the full champion. If he gives up the 154 pound title and finishes his career at his best weight of 147 I can respect that. What I can't respect is a champion who will not defend his title at the full weight limit of that title.

well, DUH...that's my freekin point...it would be another 'super fight' killed because of a useless obstacle

it wouldn't change the fact that i REALLY wanted to see it..the luster would be gone and i'd be salty as hell

If you arent hyped now then trust that you will be mad hype for it 2 weeks before the fight. Everyone will be talking about it. You can never go wrong with Mexico vs PR and the 2 biggest names int he sport behind Floyd-Pac.

That fight would sellout in Mexico, PR, and everywhere in between. I bet they do a full 4 episode All Access show for it. Cotto will have Roach in his corner which will bring in even more viewers. Everyone will know who Canelo is after that. It would be a mega boxing event to end the year

i dont give a crap about Canelo-Cotto if Canelo-Floyd can be made now

the shameless justification of Floyd fans delaying a super fight in hopes that it gets derailed is just sad

thats not necessarily true. I dont think many people were putting pressure on him to fight Canelo. He was off for a year, went to jail, and Canelo hadnt had 1 good win at the time. There was no big calling for him to fight Canelo instead of Ghost.

Im pretty sure that Showtime has Canelo as one of the guys on the list and they may even have him as a mandatory guy on there list. Im also sure though that Floyd can fight him at anytime in those 5 which means the 5th fight and he could also try to change the weight.

Either way as I said before, Floyd & his team may have it pre determined to milk this deal and not care what anyone says but he will hear pressure like never ever before if Canelo beats Cotto and Floyd has no one else to fight come May.

Garcia wont do it and neither will Khan. The only one who may do it is Lara but if you are going to take that risk then you might as well fight Canelo for more money

I ordered Mayweather vs. Guererro, but I won't give Floyd anymore money until he fights Canelo. I do think Canelo needs at least 2 more fights under his belt before he fights Mayweather though. At this point no one beats Floyd. If Canelo wants a chance then he needs to work on his stamina, otherwise he better hope he could knock Floyd out in 6.

It's a damn shame Ortiz headbutted Floyd, because he was probably the best chance of someone beating Floyd.

my bad, I thought you were trying to say that he still would deserve it but I misread. I agree but my point is that at this point he should beat Cotto and I wont feel sorry for him at all if he loses.

it's sad when you can't make Top Rank vs GBP fights...it's even more sad when you can't make in-house fights

are you serious? I want the biggest fight in boxing derailed? Who would want that? Who would root for that? I do like a proper lead up though. I never want to beat the Bulls without Jordan or whatever. I always always want my teams to go through the toughest route but if I had it my way, I would alays have the proper leadup
