C'mon man, try harder...that article does NOT QUOTE MONEY or any of his people that such a contract existed. This is someone else account stating that Money promised a fight to Canelo. Money always says that he will fight anybody but he never specifically promises that an opponent is next in the media.. NEVER. It's their word against his.

The first part of the quote was from Dan Rafeal, he has also tweeted and talked about the same thing in interviews. Dude's as much of an insider as anyone. He wouldn't write that unless he had facts to back it up. You think one of Mayweathers people is going to go on record saying he ducked? Get real dude.
Look, I agree if Floyd takes the fight he gets props. Would be his biggest challenge since he came up from 135. But his history says he will opt to take the safest fights.
I am a Canelo fan and I am not one of those that says Canelo will knock Floyd out, Mayweather could very well box circles around him.
But if its such an easy fight why isn't Floyd signing up for it? He makes money off the PPV and the backend sales, why wouldn't he want to make the most money? He only has a few fights left.

I agree, the same should happen to Money but Money is currently scheduled to fight one of his mandatory on May 4th in the Ghost so again Canelo should be doing the same with El Oro de Guantanamo.

Yeah but Canelo would drop that belt in a heartbeat to fight Floyd It's all about the $$$$$. And I doubt the WBC will enforce anything as they will make more $$$$$ out of a Floyd fight.

Exactly, so the point about comparing their respective value/ppv numbers is a moot point. I only brought up those examples, because another poster mentioned that Canelo sold out the venue because the tickets were $10.00 a piece. I remember early Mayweather fights (Michigan) where he didn't even sell out those events, pre ODLH.

As for the argument over whether or not Canelo is a draw, obviously. He's 22 and packed the place. Comparing his numbers to Mayweather's is moronic. First of all, compare them at comparable ages, at 22 Mayweather couldn't sell out his garage.

Not really.....it takes two to tango. And how many times has Oscar sold over 1 million PPV's.....4 times and 2 of those were with Floyd and Manny themselves. Floyd has sold over 1 million 5 times, and over 1.5 or more twice.

Looks aside, Canelo was handed everything in his career. Floyd earned becoming a draw the hard way, and to fight Oscar he had to give up everything. Canelo should do the same. Watch Canelo ask for 50-50 which is INSANE. The kid has still never headlined a PPV in his life.

umm you say it takes 2 to tangle right but only use it for floyd. Floy vs hatton hatton was big star, vs cotto another big star, vs marquez another star and mexican on a mexican holiday lol please. See guerrero is the weakest draw out of all of them but he is still mexican and the fight is on a mexican holiday and the undercard is packed with mexicans so you tell me which fighter needed the others. When dlh used to fight they bought the card cause of dlh himself. If twitter facebook youtube the internet people with smartphones would of been popular during the late 80s and early 90s imagined how many more numbers odlh would have had? Pbf can fight 10 more times he wont accomplished what dlh did overall.

I don't expect Mayweather to ever fight Canelo, and I don't expect Mayweather to fight anyone in September. So we will likely get a head-to-head PPV matchup with Canelo/Cotto and Marquez/Bradley.

That is NOT what I'm saying, next time instead of inferring just ask me. Deal? My point is this, without Oscar giving Mayweather the shot, who knows how Mayweather's career course would have ended up. The world got a chance to see the Mayweather brand on full display courtesy of HBO 24/7, in addition to the wider sports coverage that Oscar brought to the table. That's my point. I agree that Mayweather helped to promote and sell the fight.

ODH fought floyd because floyd was the best fighter in the world and ODH thought he could make huge money and beat him (because he would outweigh him). He didn't just give some scrub a chance. It wasnt rocky/creed it was Chavez/Sweat pea.

Think about it like this. ODH/Forbes, return tune up for ODH, was on free TV. Floyd/Ghost, return tune up for floyd, is on PPV.

Who's Mega fights/undercards was Canelo on??? That's right Floyd Mayweather! Floyd came up the hard way.. No one knew who Canelo was until he fought on Floyd's undercard when floyd fought Mosley.. It does take two to tango for something like 2.4 million......Oscar nor Floyd have ever come close to that number aside from that fight. So Shane Mosley and Felix Trinidad weren't big stars for Oscar to fight???

There's a very real argument that in the PPV world that Floyd is bigger than Oscar.

Yeah people pay 60-70 dollars to watch Robert Guerrero, Abner Mares, and in the past Canelo-Jose Miguel Cotto.

odh manny did 1.25 mil. how come ODH didn't do another 2.44 mil? why the drop off?
