Trout was the BUSIER fighter, especially with his jab. Knowing that he was going to be robbed after the 4th, he was the PRIMARY aggressor, which should have been Canelo's modus operandi (MO)...

Don't let that ONE KD skew your perceptions...
Please, don't ever compare what Bernard Hopkins does in the ring to the way Trout fights.

First of all, Bernard Hopkins' defense in his last 5 fights [And whole career for that matter], makes Trout look like Arturo Gatti.

Secondly, Hopkins clearly wins his fights, and clearly lands the most meaningful punches in his fights.

    3. Hopkins is not a jab queen, he throws it out there for Boxing 101 purposes but doesn't rely on them to actually win fights on "activity", just to set up better punches, but the guy throws straight right hands like hell.

Trout is no where near the level of a Hopkins, Mayweather, Ward, Rigondeaux, Wlad, or Marquez.

He reminds me more of Paulie Maliggnagi. Seriously. Don't ever mention Hopkins and Trout in the same sentence again.

Considering Canelo made Trout miss often and then tag him with meaningful shots, I'd say his defense was a huge part as to why he was able to land those shots in the first place.

I'm sorry but I got to say it... if Canelo was another 'type' of boxer.. a lot of you posters will be priasing him to the roof for his slickness.

Canelo out slicked Trout... it is what it is. He had Trout hitting air and there was this one gif worthy sequence where Canelo slipped and dodge half a dozen punches ending with a back turned Matrix Move. almost smirking at Trout.

His defense was extremely impressive and I have no god damn idea why so many of you 'slick boxer' supporters are not appreciating what Canelo did. The Bottom line is he out slicked a boxer that was suppose to be 'slick'...

He won the fight with the KD.. it is what it is.

Trout's Ring Generalship wasn't only apparent in his overall greater work rate. It was ALSO apparent in how he was actively turning Canelo in the first one-third or so of the fight. However, when he saw what the judges were doing after the first 1/3rd of the bout, he had to become the aggressor, which he surprisingly excelled at considering that Canelo should have outright dominated at that point.

The pressure accompanied with the great work rate led to Trout DICTATING where the fight was occurring. Canelo was simply reacting to the positions he was being put in from the pressure and the work rate later in the fight. Simply put, CANELO DIDN'T CREATE THOSE POSITIONS HE WAS PUT IN FOR THE MOST PART, thus control of the ring has to be attributed to Trout...

This is just not what happened. Must be a post from an alternative Universe or something.

Ring Generalship was Canelo all day. If I had to been one guy of the two, I would've been Canelo. He took less punishment and he even dished out more, in terms of effectiveness, if not being busier.

Lol, that's exactly what guys say when they can't give a logical argument. Stepping into jabs isn't ring generalship. You need to articulate a real argument and not expect people to swallow this "because I said so" nonsense.

My goodness, you just are on a roll tonight. From calling Canelo boring while touting Rigondoux as exciting to this. The quality of your expertise is just deteriorating from one post to the other. Next thing, you'll be calling him Arturo Gatti.

Controlling the pace is either taking the fight to the other guy, which when Canelo tried he got turned by Trout several times, and very rarely trapped Trout on the ropes. And when Canelo went backward, he literally did nothing.

Apparently bob and weaving to make Trout miss some of his punches, landing 2-3 significant punches, being out thrown by 20-30 punches a round, fighting hard for 30-45 seconds, laying on the ropes and letting the opponent tee off on you (and even if he did make Trout miss, he didn't really return from the ropes aside from one uppercut late in one of the rounds)....means you controlled the pace.
