Not counting the KD, I'm pretty sure Trout was hurt at least 3-4 times in that fight where his knees buckled. Trout could have won if he'd followed up on of those many landed jabs with a straight left but he was too tentative to throw it.
So what exactly won Canelo the fight???

I, too, have a great appreciation for B-Hop's virtuosity.Yes, I am a fan of Hop. And he has won and been the Ring General in fights where he barely thew 15 punches in the round. I.E. a lot of em were in display against Calzaghe.
Being busier is not automatically Ring Generalship, unless you're also effective with it and hurting the other guy in some form of fashion, none of which happened against Canelo. When Canelo was not throwing, he was controlling the round with head movement, when he was throwing, he was landing the cleaner punches.
Trout's Ring Generalship wasn't only apparent in his overall greater work rate. It was ALSO apparent in how he was actively turning Canelo in the first one-third or so of the fight. However, when he saw what the judges were doing after the first 1/3rd of the bout, he had to become the aggressor, which he surprisingly excelled at considering that Canelo should have outright dominated at that point.
The pressure accompanied with the great work rate led to Trout DICTATING where the fight was occurring. Canelo was simply reacting to the positions he was being put in from the pressure and the work rate later in the fight. Simply put, CANELO DIDN'T CREATE THOSE POSITIONS HE WAS PUT IN FOR THE MOST PART, thus control of the ring has to be attributed to Trout...Comment

You're right. I think his priority right now is to clean out the division before he faces Mayweather. You think Canelo should fight Floyd next??? Canelo didn't even seem all for it after the fight, it was the first time I've heard Canelo asked about Floyd and he didn't call him out.
I wouldn't mind seeing Floyd fight the Peterson-Matthysse winner, but I doubt that happens.Comment

Just rewatched the 1st round on the showtime replay, Trout landed MAYBE 1 jab at the :32 mark, thats it. Everything else missed

Thank you. When Canelo came forward, Trout made him miss, turned him several times, and got back to his high work rate. When Canelo went backward, he literally did nothing.I, too, have a great appreciation for B-Hop's virtuosity.
