Some people hate Ward. They just like using him to **** on Broner and Floyd. Ward is their example of what a black man SHOULD act like. He has to be humble, quiet, reserved, etc

****iness, brashness, edginess, arrogance and confidence for some reason isn't smiled down upon when a African American athlete does it.

    Ali
    Tyson
    Mayweather Jr
    Broner
    Toney
    Hopkins

But Mayorga, Vargas, Camacho(rip), Rios, Hamed, etc are badasses. Thats why always say that SRL was the last African American who didn't have to go the bad guy route to crossover.

Its just how it is. Sad though.
Man you gotta be one of the best posters on here. So many of these dudes on this forum I tell ya. As soon as Mayweather and Ward exchanged words, these dudes IMMEDIATELY jumped on the Ward bandwagon. They weren't even fans of him to be honest and I remember countless threads talking about how boring he is and how he clinches so much. They won't make Ward a draw because they aren't truly fans. As much as they complain about Floyd, they STILL watch his PPVs and post countless threads about the guy all day everyday.

They just riding with Ward because he's anti-Mayweather right now. And some of them saying Ward's P4P #1. How? Because he won the Super Six? Some of those are good wins, but not really GREAT wins as we talk about P4P. Really, beating Arthur Abraham makes you P4P? And I like Ward, he's a hell of a fighter, but P4P #1 not yet. He just has momentum on his side, similar to Donaire at one point when people were making a case for him being top 3. Ward still has much to prove and due to the lack of real threats in his divison and one class above, I can't see him being P4P #1. He's in the same situation as the Klitschko's, great fighters but due to the weakness of their division you can't really make an argument for them to be P4P #1, although they've beaten EVERYBODY put in front of them.

Oh and since you pointed out that an African-American athlete has to be humble, watch someone says, "Man don't make it about race." But ain't it though? There's a common thread amongst outspoken African-American Athletes. Not just in boxing but all sports. They just mad because these guys are young, Black, and speaking their mind. They'd rather have them walk around being all subservient. They don't want to admit, but it's quite obvious just by reading some of the garbage these guys post every day.

A black man? Ward shows some qualities of what every man (or fighter) should act like irrespective of race. He's not quiet or reserved either, but he is intelligent and respectful.

Instead of questioning the fans of a respectful fighter, question the fans who prefer the arrogant ****** act. What can you say for the kind of people who are drawn to that behaviour?

Does a black fighter have to be brash, arrogant and generally rude for people to support him?

Its just how it is. Sad though. Look at guys like Mosley and Winky who never really crossed over and you cant say its because of Winkys style because look at Paul Williams people hated him and all he did was whoop ass, smile, give great interviews, didn't talk much trash, was a real humble yes sir no sir guy and he didn't sell shyt.

And he fought like a blood and guts warrior didn't sell **** and never got big even before the accident..

            Shame.

You got to give him the bus test. If this was the 50's, his ass would be in the back of the bus with the rest of us.

EVERY man shouldn't have to act like Ward. That's flawed logic. People are different. It's these differences that makes the world as cool as it is. We all have a friend or know someone who's the outspoken, wild one. Shoot that's the person we want to kick it with when we watch boxing or other sports. Or if you go out to check out some chicks.

And what exactly defines ****** to you? Flashing some cash? Wearing flashy ***elry? Or using profanity?

bottom line... ward is a technical BOXER... and is a NICE guy. imo, that is a HORRIBLE combination for marketability this era. trout suffers from the same problem.

floyd: "boring" boxer + villain marketability = $$$$$
pac: "exciting" fighter + religious nice guy act = $$$

                      * notice the amount of '$', marketability>performance

it seems the dichotomy of performance/personality is the key here.... i guess the balance is the intrigue.

ward: "boring" boxer + religious nice guy act = zzzzzzzzz
