Hopkins wouldn't take that fight, and he wouldn't win it, just as he didn't win the first fight.

JC's work-rate was too high, B-Hop was trying every trick in the book to try to slow the fight down and still lost.

JC was a very good boxer...anyone with eyes could see that. Good head movement and footwork. That said he did get Jones when he was almost done. In prime i'd back Jones to win a UD or finish him. The Hopkins win has been getting better every time Bhop goes out and beats these young guys.

it was a great performance. for him to push hopkins like that, giving a true legend one of the toughest fights of his career.

kind of like the whole vitali-lewis situation, he fought so well against such a great champion that even in defeat it was the best performance of his career. how crazy is that? he loses only once in his career and its his best performance.

Big Calzaghe fan. Think he got lucky against B Hop but the win looks good in retrospective now

Not when you consider that Jermain Taylor did it before him in the same close fashion (twice) and that Calzaghe, with all his skills and talents is an underachiever in boxing, and that these young guys Hopkins are beating (Pascal and Cloud) are tailor-made for him. A hooker with no jab that relies on punching power couldn't beat a dead Hopkins.

The only thing impressive about the fight is Hopkins' age and this comment is coming from someone who loved Hopkins' wins over Tarver and Pavlik.

I agree that Pascal and Cloud are nothing special, though Joe is still a pretty good fighter. Footwork, chin, stamina, skill. He had some nice tools in his kit. Though he would not have beaten a prime Roy at 68.
