Mayweather Standards?

Here's the thing most people who s**t on Canelo is because of stature he has at a young age. People say he hasn't fought anybody that may true. But who Lara beat that was worth something. People say Cotto was a cherrypick fight for Floyd but it was a excllent win for Trout hats a double standard. I personally don't want the Guerrero fight but after Manny lost I'm fine with it since it's set in stone that they won't ever fight.

Lara beat Paul Williams, had a draw with Carlos Molina, and was kicking Vanes's ass before the fight got stopped because of the cut. All three are better opponents than anyone Alvarez ever fought.

Trout beating Cotto was a really good win, not excellent but really good, for Trout because he is a young fighter trying to prove himself. We had never seen him fight anyone on that level. We've seen Mayweather fight half a dozen Cotto level fighters before.

I remember when Pacquiao won a paper title at a catchweight at junior middle. It was ok for him to do so back then and then move back down without fighting anyone legit because he was too small, bless his little heart.

No one thought the Margarito fight was okay except Pacquiao nuthuggers. Everyone else ripped him for it, ripped him worse for Mosley, and turned on him because of Marquez 3, both choosing the fight and the decision.

Pacquiao also didn't hang on to his fake belt, he dropped it immediately. Mayweather still has his belt.

Want some more intellectually dishonest logic? I have plenty. How about Floyd only beat Hatton because Cortez wouldn't let them fight inside enough and broke up the action too often. Concurrently it's all good when a UK ref allowed Hatton to hug and wrestle Kostya Tszyu to death.

Here's another gem. Asserting that Jose Luis Castillo is the most underrated and best LW since Sweet Pea, yet FMJ is garbage and a cherry picker despite beating him twice, or once and dropping a close decision if you were inclined to score for JLC in fight 1.

guerrero-mayweather is one hell of a fight.... better than canelo for sure.... and if sergio really wanted to fight floyd, he wouldnt have put himself out of the picture with his april defense and his chavez rematch.... im not buying how bad sergio wants the fight.

i think Cotto was the only Cotto level fighter floyd faced.... i think cotto beats anyone mayweather faced from 140lb up...

Canelo provides no legacy-value, and I do consider it a cherry-pick. Floyd is literally picking him out of all the other LMWs because of his fan-base and he has the green belt. Has Canelo beaten anyone of note? Has he made an attempt to clean out the division? Is he the indisputable #2? Absolutely not. The only thing fans hang their hats on is that he has a size advantage and that Floyd is getting older.

I do believe Guerrero is a cherry-picked opponent too, but at least he took risks to put himself in his current position, which is more than we can say for Canelo.

The way you say "All other LMWs", seems like there actually a bunch of 154 pounders people rather see Floyd against. IMO there's only two fighters there that would be sellable as good fights for Floyd, Canelo and Trout.

He already beat Cotto.

Mayweather vs Molina, crickets.

Angulo? Good fight for any one else at 154 except Floyd.

which means that anything he does at this point is a cherry pick because in order for canelo to be looked at as legit he needs to fight trout or a top live fighter in his division, which leaves may 4th open for the ghost vs floyd, martinez is fighting in april so its a no go there... so basically anything he does at this point is a cherry pick. I normally don't post anything but, I can't help but to keep seeing people saying if Floyd fight Guerrero it's hbo worthy it's a garbage fight etc. Let's be honest as good as Martinez and Canelo are we only want to see those fights and give them a chance because they both have power and are much bigger. If they fought at 147 we wouldn't want to see the fight or give them a change. Why the double standards? and who should he fight?
