wont be looking through ur post archive but am pretty sure uve always given hatton way more credit (even for bad performances) than most feel he deserves

this thread is a perfect example of what would probably be posted about mayweather once he loses...downplaying his career because he doesnt look as good as he once had

    sad........

Overrated at 154 sure, too small, underwhelming power. At 140 he was one of the top guys along with Floyd and Hatton, yet a little green but remained undefeated at that weight. At 147 he was very good, damn near cleaned out the division before Margarito ruined him. Post 2008 he hasn't been the same fighter certainly.

He beat a good SSM who demolished Margarito shortly after, he beat Zab who has legit skills/speed, Malignaggi who has legit skills/speed/chin, got cheated against Margarito 1 and got his revenge like a true fighter in the second bout where he boxed the **** out of Margarito and in the later round or two it got closer but there was NO way Margarito was close to KO'ing him at all.

Honestly, he has declined since that Margarito fight significantly in my book. He does not have that same speed, relentlessness that he had in the beginning and previous to that fight. He is still competitive with people like Mayweather and yeah he got beat by Trout but guess what look at the size differential? Cotto does NOT belong at 154, dude is hardly 5"7 and he's fighting there. Khan/Garcia are like 5"10/11 with a good amount of muscle and fighting at 140. Cotto looks kinda chubby at 154 and with someone like a Mike Dolce he could get down to 147 healthily. He just refuses to diet properly.

I am a HUGE Miguel Cotto fan but with the fights he has had, his style is not suited to fight well over 30. Mayweather has been successful for this long because he hasn't taken much punishment due to his awesome defence. He should fight Canelo, make a huge payday and win or lose ride out in the sunset. He has made millions and millions of $$ in Boxing and should relax for a while and think about the next phase of his life. I doubt that will happen though...

Illegal or not, Everybody in boxing fouls. If you can't handle that part of the game then you can't be a champion or atg.

Why don't we start a thread on giving Austin Trout his dues than to start making threads about Cotto being overated and giving the usual summary of his fights. Trout had Cotto unconfortable the whole night. A-, B+, B...whatever your grade is nobody has considered him an All-Time great nor rank him #1 P4P fighter. That is overated IMO. He is a good to great champion during this era. Him being a solid PPV draw doesnt mean ppl are rating him as an All-Time great either!

If most people thought a past prime Cotto could beat an up and coming natural 154 pound champ, then yes he was overrated.

I remember back in 07 when a lot of fans believed Cotto was better than Mayweather.

Overrated only at 154. TS needs to give Cotto some credit.
