Yeah Barker and Macklin looked good, these were nobodies, Martinez probably didn't even take these clowns seriously.

Pavlik actually impressed me in this fight.

In the mid rounds, he made some good adjustments and it was anyones fight going into the later rounds when Martinez closed well.

Martinez doesn't seem to make adjustments to me in the ring and that's the main reason I think Mayweather would beat him.

Canelo doesn't have to hit me, I can tell by looking at the way his opponents react, the guy hits hard as hell. Williams, Pavlik, and Chavez Jr managed to knock down Martinez, I know Canelo can do it too. Canelo can knock Martinez out if he gets careless.

BTW, I know you noticed it too, Sergio's head movement against Chavez Jr. It was non-existent. This is not the first time he shows his lack of head movement, but that would dangerous against Canelo. You let Canelo tee off on you like that, he's gonna hurt you badly.

Bit testy aren't you? I know what Macklins worth is and am on record for calling him a good win - it doesn't change the fact that he's a clown. Did I call him a Bum? A Nobody? A scrub? No. I called him a clown. It's lingo, get with the program.

Every fighter is going to tell you they trained just as hard this time as they did last time - hell, Sergio is onr ecord for saying that about Barker AND Macklin. " This is my best camp yet! ". That's what they're SUPPOSED TO SAY, but if you actually believe that mess then I don't know what to tell you. Floyd was on record for saying he didn't train properly for Augustus for example. Right firstly Canelo can punch against 140 pounders that is all he has proven thus far. Although Mosley has a great chin he should have been stopped by Canelo at that point in his career if Alvarez's power is anything to go by.

Didn't Hatton go 12 rounds with Canelo, a domestic level welterweight?.

I hope Golovkin goes down to 154 and ends another mexican myth fighter.

And im not against Mexicans in general, Mares is a superb fighter and that Beltran the other night looked classy even in defeat.

Alvarez' career at 154 is a joke and he campaigns there as a PPV draw, Sergio had trouble getting a decent opponent at 154 then beat everyone put infront of him at 160 as the top guy there to be shot at.

Slag of Barker and Macklin all you like but I think they have a shot at beating Alvarez who is more than capable of fighting at 160.


Alvarez is young yes but thets not pretend the sun shines out of his arse until he beats a legit 154 pounder.

You could be right about Canelo but I believe im right about Martinez. In 08 he was average in an average JMW division. And at 37 I believe Serg is better off as a MW where he can dominate fighters athletically. I think a cut back to JMW will hurt more than help Serg at this point in his life. I think he could loose to any of the top JMWs.

I actually think Canelo is better than Martinez in many areas. He has a greater variety of punches (Martinez throws mostly 1-2s while Canelo has every punch in the book) he has better timing, is the better counter puncher and better body puncher.

Now styles make fights and like I said before, Canelo doesn't like movers BUT there's a difference between fundamentally sound movers like Floyd or Ward and unorthodox movers like Martinez. The unorthodox movers are easier to trap and they usually don't have good defense on the inside because of lack of upper body movement and clinching. Even prime Roy wasn't that hard to hit once you got his back against the ropes.

The few times Canelo would get in range, he would do a lot of damage to Martinez's head and body. Would it be enough to win the fight? I don't know.

Martinez showed good inside game against a 180 pounds Chavez Jr. He got caught in the end because he was way too confident because he was easily winning the fight, but you can clearly see through the first 11 rounds that Jr got him on the ropes a few times and Martinez answered back and even made Jr retreat.
