I actually think Canelo is better than Martinez in many areas. He has a greater variety of punches (Martinez throws mostly 1-2s while Canelo has every punch in the book) he has better timing, is the better counter puncher and better body puncher.

Now styles make fights and like I said before, Canelo doesn't like movers BUT there's a difference between fundamentally sound movers like Floyd or Ward and unorthodox movers like Martinez. The unorthodox movers are easier to trap and they usually don't have good defense on the inside because of lack of upper body movement and clinching. Even prime Roy wasn't that hard to hit once you got his back against the ropes.

The few times Canelo would get in range, he would do a lot of damage to Martinez's head and body. Would it be enough to win the fight? I don't know.

^^ Somebody who knows his shit.

don't be stubborn now. Why was Floyd picky or at times hesitant in attacking Juan? Your putting way too much emphasis on hand speed.
Thank you for this post. Most folks on this board don't realize just how good and talented Marquez is. Nor do they realize that outside of Floyd Mayweather, he arguably is the smartest boxer today. He has a high boxing I.Q. and can adjust on the fly. He studies his opponents and see all sorts of thing in the ring. He is very underrated. ****im Richardson calls Marquez the little genius.

I for one, think Martinez has a tough time with Canelo. And actually, if Martinez gets lazy, Canelo can knock him out.
        My sentiments ^^^ exactly.

BS... THEY WOULD TAKE THAT FIGHT AT 154.

In fact, Oscar was on Twitter saying he wanted Sergio for Canelo.

Lmao idk what in Canelo's game suggests that he beats Martinez but thats like saying Chavez beats Martinez. At least Chavez was stepping up opposition and you could see he was becoming a better fighter. Meanwhile Canelo still fighting the little guys. What does he have? Good combos? Good left hook to the body? So called "power"? Everybody thought Chavez had power cause he was fighting smaller guys and he couldnt hurt a fresh Martinez. Not even on the inside. Canelo's power is overrated. He puts too much into everybody thus leaving himself opened a lot. And someone like Martinez will take advantage of that. Theres also a big ? About his chin. And Id say his stamina is questionable too.

BTW, I know you noticed it too, Sergio's head movement against Chavez Jr. It was non-existent. This is not the first time he shows his lack of head movement, but that would dangerous against Canelo. You let Canelo tee off on you like that, he's gonna hurt you badly.
LOL @ Calling the Williams and Pavlik SLIPS knockdowns. ESPECIALLy that pavlik crap, there wasn't even a punch involved.

Are people really this dumb? Didn't we just find out what happens when you step up in competition? When a determined Martinez shows up?

Yeah Barker and Macklin looked good, these were nobodies, Martinez probably didn't even take these clowns seriously.

Williams, Pavlik, Dzinziruk and Chavez weren't nobodies though. It's not a coincidence that Martinez makes men far better than Barker and Macklin look far worse. It's because he actually showed up. He'd show up again against Alvarez. It wouldn't be pretty.

                  hopkins works for goldenboy

                  there's no surprise here.

i'd be shocked if he believes it. perhaps he does

martinez would likely mop the floor with canelo, you've got to figure that hopkins knows that.

I will love to see this fight but at 160. I think at 37, Martinez will be making a mistake to go down to 154. Canelo is big enough to to comfortably make 160 and he will be fighting for another belt to add to his resume. I know GBP will not making go up, they will want the cherry as usual. I think Canelo has a pretty good chance in the early rounds but if it goes past the 8th, it will be all Sergio.

Canelo couldn't get rid of Matthew Hatton, he's not knocking Sergio out.

In fact, he doesn't make it to the second half of the fight. They wont allow him to fight Martinez as it would be a demolition.
