LOL @ Hopkins: Canelo beats Martinez 'easy'

^^^ seriously. The slow-mo of the Williams knockdown reveals it was mostly a slip. Williams barely glanced him. Not saying it wasn't technically a knockdown, just saying Martinez was not hurt at all. The Pavlik was the same; Martinez was already off-balanced due to inherent disadvantages of his style and got grazed with a punch.
As much as I hate to admit it, Chavez Jr's knockdown hurt Martinez the most. Then again, Chavez Jr had a ******ly large weight advantage (we don't need no god damn scales to tell us this) and Martinez opened himself too much by going for the KO. Slow-mo that and even then you'll find that Chavez did kind of push him down. Again, I'll be fair - Martinez was hurt and would've gone down eventually, push or no push.
By the same token, and it's odd to admit, I think Chavez Jr has a better resume than Canelo. Canelo tends to be most effective when he's planted, throwing bombs; I think Martinez schools Canelo in similar fashion to Chavez.Comment

Canelo doesn't have to hit me, I can tell by looking at the way his opponents react, the guy hits hard as hell. Williams, Pavlik, and Chavez Jr managed to knock down Martinez, I know Canelo can do it too. Canelo can knock Martinez out if he gets careless.
BTW, I know you noticed it too, Sergio's head movement against Chavez Jr. It was non-existent. This is not the first time he shows his lack of head movement, but that would dangerous against Canelo. You let Canelo tee off on you like that, he's gonna hurt you badly.Comment

Sergio has an easy night with Alvarez.
He'll KO the smaller man who has never tasted MW power within 4 rounds.
Canelo is too easy to hit and Sergio has both the speed and power to make it a very short night for the static Ginger.
Have you seen Canelo's footwork?
Yeah... me neither.Comment

What do you think allows him to land all those combinations so accurately, his footwork obviously, unless you think footwork strictly means movement, footwork is positioning as well, it's the foundation for his offense and at the age of 22 his offense is top notch, Top 5 offensively I would say.
His footwork or lack thereof is the reason why he gets touched up so easily.Comment

Are they trying to lure Martinez to be Canelo's opponent in December? Too bad he's injured. They're probably gonna try and do him like Kirkland.
"Well at least we tried."
Man Canelo is fked once he faces a real JMW that can punch.

His defense falls on his demeanor as a fighter, he stands directly in front of his opponents and counters with combinations, similar to Marquez. Don't see how that has anything to do with his footwork.Comment
