Sergio Martinez vs Floyd Mayweather or rematch?

When Mayweather is involved we all know how fans get, they look for any and everything to discredit the guy, if he beats Martinez at 154 people will say "HE DRAINED MARTINEZ" that is a GUARANTEE!

Why do you care? Any and every win gets discredit in some way. I'd rather see the fight and make up my own mind rather than care about what people MIGHT SAY afterwards. Why don't we just end the sport of boxing because all wins are discredited anyway?

But why would you bring up something like that in a debate with me then?? Unless you were insinuating it. Either way makes no sense. I never said it, therefore it cannot apply to me.

You miss the point like the other dude, I am not against the fight at all if it is put together correctly, if Martinez comes down to 154 and take a fight or two first then I am all for it...or hell if Mayweather goes to 160 and take a fight first against a solid opponent and looks good doing it...I am all for the fight at 160

Bottom Line if they are going to fight let it be for something more then JUST A PAY DAY, let it be a legacy booster for one of them if not BOTH...and the best way to do that is the ELIMINATE THE POTENTIAL EXCUSES!

I agree that Trinidad's best weight was 154 but Hopkin's win over Trinidad was still a great victory. Trinidad was rated by many as the #1 pfp fighter in the world. He had just crushed Joppy to win a middleweight tittle and he was a 4 to 1 favorite to beat Hopkins. I think Trinidad had some personal problems that hurt his performance but Hopkins fought a great fight and it was a great win. I saw all of Hopkin's fights and he did dominate top 10 middleweights in tittle defenses just as much as Floyd dominated Gatti and Corrales. He KOed Steve Frank in 1, Joe Lipsey in 4, John David Jackson in 7, Glen Johnson in 11, and almost killed Joppy in winning all 12 rounds of a beat down. These were all middleweight tittle defenses against top 10 rated middleweights. Hopkins had 20 successful defenses of his middleweight tittle before losing two very close fights to Taylor at age 40. As good as Floyd is I think Hopkins has achieved more in the sport of boxing.

Man you think Paul Williams is better than Cotto?
I taught for a second there you were a real fan but you have an agenda against Certain fighters! Go watch Cotto fight the Undefeated Torres, Name one fighter today who came thru that kinda fire and won. Think Lara beats Cotto as bad as he did P.W when Floyd Couldnt? Lara is one of my favs and i admit so is Cotto, but Cotto knocks him out! And dnt give me this **** Williams was shot, Cotto started his career a few months after williams and has been in more wars!

Potential excuses are always there. The longer you wait to make the fight, the less lustre it will have - look at Mayweather-Pacquaio. Both guys are getting older too. Why wait? Its already one of, if not THE fight to make.
