    the belt

    again with the belt

why so much respect for the sanctity of the WBC's friggin belt now?

there are four of those things excluding diamond, interim, silver, super, emeritus, etc

the WBA used to keep many interim champions per division.

what the hell is even going on.

Ohh damn, I didn't realize that you 2 were furiously debating ginger over here. No wonder you think he's the president of the (boxing is a business) club. His arguments are strong.

I was 1 guy that absolutely did not like the Ortiz fight for ginger. That ginger should be fighting his championship contenders. But instead another eliminator has been added while he's supposedly fighting Lopez, pathetic.

you act like i dont care to see canelo or anybody else to ever step up.

of course i want to see canelo step up. right now it is not going to happen

i agree with the man's right to make money and operate a business that is sustainable. if you matched fighters the way a fan would like them to be matched you'll be on the street looking for a job

and canelo does not choose his opponents man. at the very best he will have a list of options put in front of him
that is not how it works. he does not say "i want X. get him the fight for me whatever it takes."

a lot more goes into making a fight than simply allowing a 21 year old kid to pick a fight out of a hat, and canelo doesnt and cant be concerned with it

Nah man, check the thread BPP made.

New England won me over. I agree with him wholeheartedly.

Who cares who has a belt. No one in boxing is fighting right now to become champion because belts don't mean anything. No one has EVER in the history of boxing asked someone to do what we're asking Canelo to do now. Mike Tyson, Ali or Patterson were never asked to make such sacrifices and accomplish so much at this stage.

Boxing is a business. We have to let all the elite fighters fight in several eliminators and beat each other into a vegetable state before we can allow boxing's future star/current champion to lock horns with a deserving opponent in his own division.

I mean, what's the rush? Boxers have eternity as shelf lives. I'm pretty sure the Kirkland's, Lara's, and Trouts will still be the same fighters years from now and be able to give Canelo a tough fight when he's 24 years old.

Boxing is a business, Bush. The quicker you understand that, the quicker you can join the BBC.

business is in my blood. i own two small businesses. i have not made a dime by the hour in three years.

you guys will have to pardon me for recognizing that aspect of things, identifying with the players, and respecting their right to operate a business that actually works

i've seen what it looks like when you make poor decisions with your assets. i've made some myself. but i'm still here.

if all things were ideal, and money and being human (not taking a beating, being able to learn, etc,) had nothing to do it, you are damn right i would match these guys viciously. i love hard fights. they keep me going.

            viciously
these guys act like i dont even want canelo to step up.

i'd put canelo in there with a polar bear. i want to see what the kid is made of more than most. i cant wait to see him tested. but i know i've got to wait.

that boxing literally wouldnt be around if they were making the decisions is completely lost on them

Why not fight a relatively easy opponent within the division, someone top 10 ranked that Alvarez could beat? I get that he is being kept out of danger because of the Mayweather fight he will almost certainly get, but why fight Lopez? Why fight Mayorga? He can fight easy fights without fighting absurd opponents like this.

He's not even fighting in his own division. That's the biggest problem, belt or no he if he is going to fight welterweights, move back down to welterweight.

I'm not arguing with you homey, hell I ain't even mad. But as long as I'm a member of boxingscene, believe that i'll be stating the obvious.

In this case it's obvious that golden boy & the wbc are going out of their way to protect ginger & feeding gullible fight fans a $h!t load of garbage while lining there pockets & ruining the sport.

It's crazy the kid is barely 21 and the pressure is already on. I see it both ways, I'm upset GBP opted for Lopez but I also understand they tried making some very good fights that fell apart for different reasons that were not Canelo's. We all wanted the Lara fight, but I also feel that's a fight that cane be built up into a big event in the near future.
He has a belt and headline's HBO.... wtf do you think we want him to do?
If he's not ready yet to fight legit opponents, he should be beltless fighting on undercards.

otherwise you're doing nothing but complaining

i have valid points. ask around. i know what the hell i am talking about.

i know what this game looks like and how it works, and i know that if you were in charge of it with your motives it would not exist.
