I want him to fight someone better than Mosley. He hasn't yet.

This tread was supposed to end right here. How can you be critical of him before then try to defend a supposed fight with Lopez now?? I mean, wow!!

I have high hopes for Alvarez, but he has been protected too long. He has been champion quite awhile and the WBC seems like they are the ones doing the protecting.

To fight somebody in his own weight class in the top 10 would be a good start.

He can "develop" All he wants, just drop the belt and stop fighting old lower weight fighters

Anybody else would have been stripped long ago let alone not winning a 154 vacant title against hatton

lopez wont be a tough out for canelo, but otherwise i agree that people jump too hard on canelo. canelo is going to beat the trash out of lopez.

what's different is that lopez is in his prime and that he will try, and whether or not these guys will recognize this, that is a step up and he'll learn from it.

i dont even remember if they were barking about ortiz as a canelo opponent, but it ceratinly was not as hard as they are complaining about the guy who broke his jaw. what sense does that even make?

lots of it seems to stem from the fact that he was given a paper title

                it's a paper title
you see how easily they give these things away. who cares?
honestly.. who cares? there are four in each division, and they're never even owned by the best four fighters.

                these things mean nothing.
you all have complained about them at one point or another, and here you are defending the sanctity of the WBC belt

                the WBC

the friggin WBC. that's literally one of the most bogus and corrupt organizations on the planet, in boxing or otherwise.

again... four paper titles that are given away like candy
is that really what's pissing you all off so much?

the only aspect of this entire ordeal that's remotely worthy of pissing and moaning is that it is / may be a PPV. canelo is not a PPV fighter, yet. i think that's goldenboy being greedy.

everything else is business as usual for a promoter.
giving lopez a chance is a nice gesture to all of the opponents in the world. they know that if they upset the apple cart they'll get a chance to get paid.

"the kid" does not pick who he fights.

he's got a long term contract with goldenboy. if he starts causing them problems they can literally ruin his career. he does not dictate terms at this stage.

many of your favorite boxers couldnt name the top 10 guys in their division. not just some, but many, hardly even watch the sport. they are not matchmakers.
the only decision they make is yay or nay at this stage.

there's more to learn about this game than what you'll hear about floyd mayweather and manny pacquiao.

christ you guys really dont get it, do you?

So you're saying Schaefer never told boxingscene a few weeks ago that it was up to Canelo on who he fought next?

This is the same Schaefer you agree with and put so much weight on.

                      GTFO with that typical BS

He has full authority over his career. He has simply allowed GBP to control him
