I mean, he was lined up for Williams. That wasn't going to be easy at all.
I don't mind Lara not being next for a title shot cuz he has unfinished business with Molina, but if Canelo is gonna fight Alfonso Gomez/Ryan Rhodes/Matthew Hatton, then what the **** is up? As much **** as I give Vanes, he was promised a title shot at one point, but never got it. So Vanes is playing the game and has decided to fight no-hopers, instead of fighting Lara for a "final title eliminator". The last top 10 match-up in this division (not counting Floyd/Cotto) was Molina/Kirkland back in March. It's become crystal clear that Canelo is waiting for Cotto and Mayweather. If he loses to them, then what? Will he then be expected to face the gauntlet of contenders ready to face him?

Canelo's management admitted to Canelo not being ready for Mayweather immediately following the Mosley bout. And you and i both know that fight isn't gonna happen. And that's a sure L that Canelo would take early in his career...so if Lara & Molina don't make sense, Mayweather at this stage in his career DEFINITELY doesn't make sense. None of that hype would have been around if Mayweather would've been a free man right now and ready come September.

Second, Cotto is the only serious big money fight @154 that would be available for the latter quarter of the year. Cotto stated that he wouldn't be ready till December. That's understood. If these were solid business decisions, why not push the date back a month or two and make a fight with Cotto? Why stick so ardently to a September date? Especially considering that u've had 2-3 opponents fall out of the match, and ur going head-to-head with a much larger Martinez/Chavez bout with no other opponents matching that drawing power?

I wouldn't mind Molina again for Lara, mostly because I think Molina deserves to stay in the mix. I had that a draw and Molina is a nightmare for lots of guys. It would give a chance to eliminate his lone real blemish.

They would be big (huge) money fights, so they would almost certainly be taken. And I agree, Floyd and Cotto are #1 and #2 in the division (if Mayweather is considered 154). I would also say that Lara is top-five, and arguably number three.

              Feel free to disagree
It's what have to done for me lately...when he struggled with Molina everybody was calling him overrated/overhyped, I think he should still get a crack Canelo though.

My point is Lara is not being avoided because Canelo and his team think he is this unbeatable monster but because he is solid and doesnt bring the money to take that risk with bigger and better opportunies that look to be in the immediate future. Canelo isnt some fighter who cant sell tickets and needs fights like this to build his career so its not fair to compare him to someone like Williams who needed to fight guys like Lara to get paydays. Its not right but thats the way it is and things arent put into perspective and words like duck and scared get used when its not that simple.

Someone made a post saying those downplaying Lara are mostly Canelo's fans to dismiss him as an opponent. Same case here with your post, downplaying Rigo to dismiss him as an opponent for Donaire. Cause you ARE a Donaire fan correct?

So Lara is overhyped cause he didnt finish off Freddy Hernandez? I guess fighters have to KO everyone they face nowadays. Not only for the fans but cause of the judges too (one judge had Lara winning by 1 point?). Lara performed very good vs Hernandez and looked like he couldve gone 10 more rounds. Not to mention his face was untouched. Overall a very good performance KO or not.

Oh, the business of boxing. It's simply dumbfounding what fight fans defend & allow nowadays. Lil ginger is a star, so he should not fight the title contenders & be handfed stiffs to preserve a showdown with Floyd or Cotto.

Meanwhile the title contenders should beat the crap out of 1 another hoping to earn a shot at ginger. Then i'm left wondering if anyone see's that this is the reason mma is talking over.
