Yo Dunn. I read a lot of your posts in the past and rarely if ever had a problem with your point of view but this what you just wrote is ludicrous and a let down to boxing fans who want to see the best fighters square off to solidify who is the best among them. You are very critical of Manny Pacquiao but what Arum has done with his fighters is what you are cosigning for Canelo. This may not mean anything to you but I am disappointed in this way of thinking from a boxing fan.

You guys are seriously overrating Lara,the only reason everyone is "avoding" him is because no one outside of hardcore boxing fans know who the hell he is. Dunn, that's Bull$h!t homie. Canelo has a belt that Martinez got stripped for and he is defending his title because he is considered a champ at the top of the sport. Shouldn't be no safe route for him at this point. The Williams and Kirkland fights were a step up but Ortiz not so much and we found out Saturday that Canelo would have probably beat Ortiz down. Now you have some other guys in line for a title shot but not Lara? Fight should be made. You sound like his promoter.

It took how many years for Chavez Jr to FINALLY want to fight Sergio Martinez? That's only because Martinez was stressing and beefing and he is the legit champ at middle weight while Chavez Jr walks around with Martinez title he was stripped for to give Chavez Jr some props. Canelo has how many fights on his resume? Back in the day in the sport of boxing the upcoming guys wanted to fight the best to prove they were indeed the best more so than now. Canelo is being hyped and groomed by Golden Boy as one of the best fighters. So it's okay for Canelo to want to fight Floyd Mayweather who is THEE best in the sport but not Lara? It's all politics man. Bottom line is that Lara is a high risk,low reward threat or so it seems for Canelo.

Grus just because GBP and HBO are singing his praises doesn't mean I do. The problem with promoters exercising too much power and control over sanctioning bodies is real. SO we agree that Canelo's 154 title is bogus and not earned the way we as fans want. But thats the title. Canelo the fighter is different.

He may have had almost 50 fights, but watching him fight lately, there is no way I think he can compete with a Lara type right now. He's popular for reasons outside the ring. So Lara beating his ass restores respectability to the title, but tells me nothing I don't know about Canelo already.

How can Canelo prove he is the best other than fighting Martinez? If they fight, Martinez IMO kills him too. SO again, what do I learn about Canelo I don't already know?

Back in the day great fights happened because networks paid money and because better fights meant better money. To the detriment of boxing that has changed. But if you had more outlets that put boxing on TV, we'd have better fights.
