Now there is a real opportunity for Canelo to accept a Lara fight. There is no other legit contender besides him. We can really see where Canelo is in his career taking such a good contender. I really don't want to hear how young Canelo is or that he still needs to get more experience because he has been a champ for a while already with a few defenses under his belt.

About the only money fight out there would be a Cotto fight at a later date than sept 15.

To be fair I feel like they have been trying to make a good fight this time for Canelo that would have been a legit test, and might be having as bad a run of luck doing it as I have ever seen. They have set up 3 fights that would have been legit interesting fights and all have fallen through for one reason or another. Yes Lara deserves a shot at a belt, and I'm hoping he gets it from the K9-Spinks winner. He just needs to be more active and continue to dominate people and he'll get fights eventually. If he can't get huge name fights just fight 3-4 times a year on TV and make people start demanding these guys to fight him. In a perfect world he deserves to fight Canelo, but boxing is very far from perfect.

He fights at 154, that fight is not that difficult to make. But gloden boy won't make it because they're going above & beyond to protect ginger.

My point was the business of boxing, (which for some ****** reason), the fans embrace, encourages this kind of behavior. I don't want to see anymore overprotected fighters. I wan't the best fights involving the best fighters.

That'd be a great fight, one that I'd favor Canelo to win. Lara has great skill but Canelo would be be to impose his size and wear Lara down.

Williams' pressure didnt wear Lara down even with the big ass bump on his head, what makes you think Canelo will? Cause he's bigger? Canelo has bad D and Lara would counter him all day.

Oh btw, if anyone is preventing this fight its Golden Boy and not Canelo's team. That's what I think at least.

If they wanted to bring him along slowly, then Lara or someone else willing to fight the best should own that title while ginger takes on some real fighters.

No it doesn't. You are mixing apples and oranges. Canelo won a bogus title in an era where titles mean NOTHING because of his powerful promoter. No question. But Canelo signed with his powerful promoter because they saw how popular he is. And yes, it matters that he is 21. We know he can't beat Lara right now, so why fight someone you can't beat?

So essentially, you want Canelo to stunt his pro development just because he has a WBC belt which we both know is meaningless. Then he loses to Lara. So now Lara has a meaningless belt after beating someone he is far more experienced than.

I'm not disagreeing with you in the least, however I don't think they have been trying to just set Canelo up with an easy win in this fight. If they were PW wouldn't have been the first choice. He may not have been at his prime anymore, but at no point was PW an easy fight for anyone. As for Lara yeah it sucks he can't get a huge fight, and he does deserve one. He's one of my favorite fighters in the sport, but realistically he needs to just stay active and dominate guys and eventually he'll get the shot. He's not that old and really is starting to hit his prime right now. Hopefully he puts on another dominating performance in this next fight and get the K9-Spinks winner. Hell it took Martinez several years of KO'ing good but underrated fighters just to finally get one overhyped bum in the ring, and Martinez is the lineal MW champ. Lara will get his shot I have little doubt.

The reason this fight most likely will not occur is just like the reason, Donaire won't fight Rigondeaux. Will not sacrifice their Legacy when so much is thought of them out side of the normal boxing fan. While we know Lara or Rigondeaux have the best chance to Destroy the top people at their weight classes, but the champions promoter will not let this occur. If Donaire, Chavez Jr, Canelo, and other want to Legitimately prove themselfs as possible hall of fame fighter, they need to show why!

If Canelo beats n schools Lara, the next day the same mofos that said Canelo needed to step up will say Lara was inexperience based on his record n lost to Molina before.
