Oscar was great in his prime.. The only REAL losses in his resume were against Mosely (First fight), Sturn, Hopkins (Too small), Mayweather (split decision) and PAcquiao (weight drained). He beat Trinidad and was not given a decision he deserved against Mosely in their second fight.
Is Oscar De La Hoya underrated?

Everyone in this thread except for Mak and IronDan has to be fairly new to the sport. That's the only explanation for such comments.Comment

i think a prime oscar would have lost as well but it would have been closer with PAC's somewhat wreckless style, some opportunities would have been there for that vaunted left hook...style-wise, there's not much doubt in my mind that he still loses to FloydComment

You know the Whitaker fight isn't about who won or lost. I had Pea winning a very close fight but cant argue against anyone giving it to Oscar. The issue was the margins on the judges scorecards. That was a disgrace to the sport of boxing and blatant disrespect to the career of a hall of fame fighter.
Oscar had some very favorable scores. It really ruined the suspense of some of his fights for me because it had people wondering if he could ever lose a close fight in Vegas. Your delusional if you disagree with that because that question was raised before the trinidad fight. And the thing about it is he knew this. After the Whitaker fight he was quoted saying something along tge lines about how he was the young exciting up and coming fighter and how that played a role in the scoring for that fight.
It's not Oscar's fault but it does affect how I look back on his career. One judge gave him a victory over Floyd. The Felix Sturm scores were atrocious. A judge had him ahead in the Hopkins fight. I think that people had no sympathy for his close losses to Mosley and Tito because of the favorable scores he has always gotten.Comment

That is certainly part of it, he got the benefit of the doubt more than he got screwed so it is hard to really feel bad about the times he did get jobbed. You know the Whitaker fight isn't about who won or lost. Typical snobby comment from a pretentious d-bag such as yourself, at least you didn't come here and flat out lie about your boy Trinidad deserving that gift he got against Oskie.
