Why does Chad Dawson want a fight with Andre Ward so badly?

because Dawson is not a B!TCH like most of todays boxers who wants to pick and choose easy winnable fights and hide behind their Promoter and make excuses as to why he can't fight certain fighters because "IT WOULD BE BORING"

he is clearly confident in his skills so much that he feels he can drop to 168 and still be as good as he is at 175

Dawson is sticking to his plan. And I think he's already shown he's not averse to doing what he has to do and stepping up.

I've thought about that also. Lucian Bute. Like I said, in order to prove that I'm the best, then I'll fight anywhere and fight anybody. I'd love to go back to Canada and fight Lucian Bute. If he's at ringside when I fight Jean Pascal, I'm going to give him a reason not to want to fight me. Trust me on that.

The last time HBO desparately wanted someone and overpaid it was Bradley-Alexander and they put up either 1.5 or 2 million(I forget exactly)....granted they gave them guarantees for other fights but still. You think they'd put that much more up for Ward-Dawson?

I can't really figure this out. I would think he would want to avenge the Pascal loss, which I think he could easily do. A rematch with Pascal in Canada would be bigger than a Ward fight anywhere in the US IMO. Andre Ward isn't really that big of a name.

Do you think it's just because there really aren't many good fights at LHW? Still, I'd think he would rather fight a few guys at LHW like Pascal and Cloud. Then maybe Ward would be ready to move up to LHW and Dawson wouldn't have to move down in weight.

I have to give Chad props though. Ward is a tough fight, especially since he is willing to drop down to 168 to fight him.

I believe it is a "halo" fight.

Ward is a top p4p guy, whereas pretty much everyone feels he would beat Pascal in a rematch. Bernard already took any lustre off Pascal.

I look at Dawson's height and body, and I'm shocked that he can make 168 comfortably. We'll see.

Bradley alone got 1.1 million so unless Devon took only 400k your number is off

and yes they will offer way more because 1. they want Ward 2. they both make more than than the 2.5-3 million you are suggesting should they fight each other and 3. HBO loves to overspend

Yeah, I agree with this. I don't know what fight it was but I remember Dawson saying he made 2 million for a fight(maybe Pascal, it was a few years ago). HBO will pay big money for this fight.

Yea it reminds me of Rios-Gamboa. Great fight but just not necessary. Now if Ward wins the Dawson going to 168 will be an excuse. If Chad wins he will have gone down to pick on a smaller guy.

It's a great fight, and I'm not against it....but I would have preferred Chad go after a top LHW. It just seems forced to me.
