Yea it reminds me of Rios-Gamboa. Great fight but just not necessary. Now if Ward wins the Dawson going to 168 will be an excuse. If Chad wins he will have gone down to pick on a smaller guy.

It's a great fight, and I'm not against it....but I would have preferred Chad go after a top LHW. It just seems forced to me.

If both men weigh 168 then they are the same size. If Ward had to come to 175 then maybe Dawson could be accused of picking on a smaller guy. Seven pounds is a pretty small difference for men thisbig anyway.

Still baffled at every body who comes in here to post a reason why other than Pascal and Cloud, the two other decent fights he could make, are tied up with each other for August. This site itself followed the Pascal-Cloud negotiations all the way up to when it was officially signed and people still questioning, "Why not Dawson-Pascal II". I can't really figure this out. I would think he would want to avenge the Pascal loss, which I think he could easily do. A rematch with Pascal in Canada would be bigger than a Ward fight anywhere in the US IMO. Andre Ward isn't really that big of a name.

Do you think it's just because there really aren't many good fights at LHW? Still, I'd think he would rather fight a few guys at LHW like Pascal and Cloud. Then maybe Ward would be ready to move up to LHW and Dawson wouldn't have to move down in weight.

I have to give Chad props though. Ward is a tough fight, especially since he is willing to drop down to 168 to fight him.

I know why I would fight him if I was Dawson. I would fight him if I was Dawson because many people have the feeling that Ward is a superstar on the brink of exploding onto the world wide scene. And I would want a shot at him while I still could, and hopefully give him a loss, so that I may use that as leverage when my career starts to fall off. Because the bottom line is Ward has way more ceiling than Dawson could dream of having.
