There are a legions of fighters comming out of Mexico and Mexi-Americans that are in the sport (thank God for that). Because of that boxing is live and well but is not the only reason why.

Mexicans have a huge contribution in the sport but don't run the whole thing.

It's become cliché to say that "boxing is dead" (or dying). I don't know whether that's true or not, but it does seem to me that there's far less interest in the sport than in years past. I give credit to the Mexicans for their great help in keeping the sport afloat. No other single group can claim as much credit.

I agree with you on this one...besides most fight of the year candidate involves 2 mexicans or @ least one.
Note I said most not all.
I appreciate boxing skill and ring generlship..... but I rather a good old brawl than 2 ****erpunchers. unless they are boxer punchers like Marquez, Gamboa, Mares people like this is keeping this sport alive.
so if you ask me yes mexicans in great part are keeping this sport alive....hell even May weather said it in New York and I quote: "sorry Puertoricans mexicans are the best fans with puertoricans close 2nd"

                  Gamboa's Chance

Gamboa, you had a chance to fight and expose Rios at 135. You are saying that you would have beaten him at 140. When press conference time came, you chose to be a no show. I am surprised that Rios has not filed a suit against you for having hime travel to Miami which happens to be your back yard. If I did not know any better I would think that you got punked by Rios.

I am mexican living in miami by way of san diego/phx and it upsets me to see the kack of cuban dan base for their boxers. I know more about cuban boxers than most cubans i know. Most of them did even know Lara fought last Friday.

Cubans are no where near the level of Mexican boxing fans.

Hell filipinos in sd blow out the cuban fan base here in miami.....
