AMEN.......So Gamboa having a HBO contract means nothing to you.
Sorry but Mexicans are not carrying the sport of boxing. There are many fans all over.
So you going to say that Bute fan base in Canada is carried by Mexican boxing fans?
Mexico has great boxing heritage and has always been a super power in the sport in all aspects. You are being a little bit ignorant in your post. Canelo is huge in Mexico and in the east coast but Floyd is famous world wide.
Floyd took Laila Ali's road to the common boxing fan in showing up in popular commercials and it that Dancing With The Stars that has a huge rating, Floyd also was in the WCW or WWF (what ever its called) and got more exposure. Alongside being undefeated and a crap talker he is very popular.
Your dance partner in fight night has a lot to do how much you sell but to say that the sales are riding on Canelo is not accurate. It will impact cause he is on the card against another popular fighter but the mass amount of buys it is going to generate is not going to be cause of Canelo
In the words of James Toney:

One would think so. But the live audience for Rios-Abril was only a little over 3000, while the Mandalay Bay Events Center's capacity is 12000. It seems to me that, despite Mexicans' support for their boxers, Rios isn't as much of a draw as you contend.Rios was the attraction, not Gamboa. Rios has a MUCH bigger fanbase in this country than Gamboa would ever have.
Speaking of fanbases, after Cotto vs Mayweather breaks the ppv rcord that hoto mayweather is gonna take credit for the numbers, but WE all know its cause Canelo is bringing in the numbers for that fight...mexicans buy ppv, mexicans are the biggest fanbase for boxing in this country.
There would almost certainly have been many more fans in attendance if Gamboa had been Rios's opponent. Would the turnout then have been due to Brandon or Yuri? I think it would've been due more to the quality of the fight, rather than the popularity of either fighter.Comment

Also, remember that article earner referred me to about Gamboa vs Ponce? I believe it said Gamboa drew 2k+ in Atlantic City and I wanna say that was just Cubans but I could be wrong. Maybe I'll look it up when I get home but even if it was 2k+ total that was still a good number. So if you ask me, Rios isn't that much better than Gamboa drawing numbers. One would think so. Im prety sure that without the suport of the mexican comunity no way in H**l nither Floyd or Pacman ever make the PPV they are making....Hence TR using Chaves Jr. and other mexicans on Paquiao's cards and GBP using Canelo and Morales for Floyd.
whoever deny this fact is a fool, I don't like Canelo nor I like Chaves Jr. they are overated big time and I would not buy their PPVs but a fact is a fact.
I'am curious to see how well Pac and Mayweather do without the undercard stack with mexicans.
PS I'm American by the wayComment

I agree. It would seem that Rios, despite having a massive fanbase to draw from, doesn't bring the numbers. In a relative sense, at least, Gamboa draws more interest. Also, remember that article earner referred me to about Gamboa vs Ponce?
