imo Rios had problems with Abril because of his height and size, Rios is used to fighting guys smaller than him so I don't think that just because Abril was able to handle Rios, that Gamboa could do the same, not taking nothing away from Gam but he is a really little guy at just 5'5 he's not even 5'6, sometimes no matter how good you are size will overcome or overwhelm you at some point, I think Gamboa knows this, hence he pulled out of the Rios fight. So he's not fooling me talking about it after the fact, Gamboa's not 6ft with long arms like Abril, not even remotely close, and he sure azz helll wasn't beating Rio's at 140

Styles make fights and the 6 foot Abril is a much different fight than the much smaller Gamboa. Gamboa screwed over a lot of people, including the networks which you do not do. Pavlik did the same and he is now earning Peanuts not fighting on Showtime or HBO and against guys no one has heard of.

Gamboa could write a book on how to burn your bridges. He is going to find that comes at a bigger price than potentially losing to Rios would have cost. If he is LUCKY, some day a network will carry his fights but if you screw over one network, another is not easily gong to take you in. He possibly cost himself millions.

Pure conjecture. That's an opinion with absolutely no foundation. Nobody's happy about the way Gamboa handled the Rios situation, including myself; but nothing supports your claim. Yuri is a highly skilled and talented professional boxer with hundreds of fights behind him. The suggestion that he "chickened out" of a fight with a high return is misguided and immature.

Much as I wanted Yuri to beat Rios, I gave Brandon the edge in their match-up. I agree that Richard, although not as talented as Gamboa, was all wrong for Rios. Nonetheless, if Brandon came into a fight with Yuri looking the way he did against Abril, Gamboa would've been buzzing around the lethargic Rios all night. "Bam Bam" wasn't even throwing punches for much of the fight.

I wonder if they would've robbed Yuri tthe way they robbed Richie....

By the way, I'll never understand these "interviews." The author apparently got some of Gamboa's time, yet only managed to get those few words out of him? SMH

Its all part of the 'coward' smear campaign bro. As you can see it did the job around these forums. But like I said once he comes back, they're either gonna be on his nuts or hate on him even harder.
