Cotto never had a chance against Floyd, but to think he has a chance now is just silly. How can anyone look at his last fights and think he can compete with Floyd? Cotto is getting his @ss-whooped PERIOD. They are going to stop it.

And these homeys expect Cotto to apply pressure on Floyd, like they always do. Floyd is always expected to fight a boring fight -- fight defensively, and never go for a kill. His opponent is always the one expected to fight aggressively. He's always expected to get the juicy role of countering and potshotting. The result is always a boring UD.

That's why Floyd was a stylistic nightmare for JMM. Marquez didn't get to fight backwards because Floyd would not come forward. JMM was forced to because otherwise nothing will happen.

This new Cotto will fight smart and is a defense-conscious one. He won't come forward like people fool themselves into believing. He will use his bike and potshot Floyd with his left hook. Mayorga had to tell him to come in because he won't. This Cotto will move a lot.

what I know is Mayweather will land the first shot and will not back up.Cotto's not difficult to hit so if slower fighters can find his face what will Mayweather do.Yes Mayweather looked unsettled when he faced Cotto with Kellerman but that's what Mayweather needs to train even harder.This is what I like because Mayweather will beat Cotto the way he beat Gatti,it will be one sided and brutal.

I agree with you in that Duckweather doesn't have a career defining moment. He never will as long as he keeps ducking Manny. Right now all boxing fans just see him as a coward, a duck, and cherry picker, and so on and so fourth. Manny Pacquiao is the complete opposite. Never afraid to put on a show for his fans. I feel Cotto is the same way.

i dont give anyone but martinez a high chance of beating floyd. i think floyd will dominate cotto and i also think he would dominate pac. but that doesnt mean its not a legit fight. cotto is a 154 lb champ and hes ranked high on all unoffical and official rankings, theres no way this fight isnt legit.

Yes Cotto has a title but he got it because he fought the one legged Foreman then beat 2 more guys that he was supposed to beat. Margarito was a question mark of sorts but we saw that it wasn't the same Margarito in there. Due to those 3 wins and taking the title from Foreman gave him that ranking but we all know what he did previous to that against Manny, Margarito and according to Floyd, lost to Clottey (could have gone either way).

Cotto would have had to have had a real good challenge before we can say how Cotto can now do against the higher echelon of fighters.

Legit opponents are those that have a decent chance of winning to the overall boxing community. Cotto doesn't fit the bill except to some of the die hard Cotto fans. I like Cotto but objectively, like you, can't give him good odds.

Hope he makes it at least a good fight to watch.

Theres a reason why floyd retired instead of fighting Cotto in his prime 6+ years ago, he was waiting for Cotto to get shopworn aka KTFO by Marg and Pac

In a fair fight with a ref that takes points away for throwing elbows and shoving off with forearms to the neck, and a neutral venue (not floyds backyard), than Cotto wins this fight EASILY.

A prime Cotto would've Hattoned floyd within 5 rounds.

There is only one way to beat Floyd, K.O him. He can't be outboxed by mentally previous loss fighters that are inferior technically, Hatton, Oscar and Castillio showed you can have measured success roughousing but just that, measured. Floyd took two risks against known punchers earlier in his career, Mosley and Corrales..admittedly now we may not see it again. Call me crazy but I believe Alvarez if he develops has a small chance but defensively he lacks and Ray Leonard and Robinson are no longer here.

He knew there was no risk against Corrales, he'd already gone up a div and had been having hell making weight. He had to be assisted to walk to where the scales were, and failed the first 2 times, He'd already spent the morning in a sweat box, as well as the preceding 9 days....... You see, also, he didn't train, his family was shattered, his life was ruined, he was already going to gaol for 2 years, and he was mentally completely out of it. There was more, but that's enough.

No, there was no risk against Corrales, which was why Mayweather made the fight, As for Mosley, it was well known that Mosley was old and finished, and was just fighting for money because he was broke.
