Was it wrong that Raheem didn't get the Pacquiao Shot over Morales?

This thread didnt exist during the 2nd fight in Jan 2006, I think it was first mentioned 2 years later by the same type of nitpicking posters like the TS.

Manny vs Erik in their 1st rematch was highly anticipated, it wasnt a shoe in for Manny winning as we look back from 6 years ahead. It's easy to say in the present time, "Manny shouldve fought Zahir Raheem" in 2012, but back in 2006 that wasn't the consensus. You also have to remember is Manny didnt move up to 135 till 2 years later. At the time Raheem wasnt even in Mannys radar, a JMM rematch was.

Anyone who tells you that they wanted Manny vs Raheem 6 years ago instead of the Morales rematch is straight up fn lying.

I think the 2nd one is still an OK win for Pac, but yes he gets far too much credit for everything from his fans.

Basically a vast majority of Pac's fans have no idea who Raheem is, let alone had ever watched one of his fights. Of course Morales looks better to them. No matter how old or what weight problems a fighter may be facing, the names are everything to most casual fans. If Denis Lebedev were Filipino the same posters who praise everything Pac does would be praising Lebedev's wins over Jones and Toney as the greatest victories ever.

It is like if Landon Donovan or Clint Dempsey were the first soccer player Americans ever were a fan of. Then all of America decided Dempsey/Donovan were the best ever and decided to tell every internet soccer forum about how Landon Donovan is the best...every minute...of every day...for years. That is what a shockingly vast majority most Pacquiao fans are. It is a Pinoy pride thing, they don't even care about boxing.

People will do anything to have a go at Pac, even if there is no basis for it. Anything to try and divert attention away from what Flooyd should have done and his career choices.

Do you think it was wrong that Raheem was never in the running for a fight with Pacquiao, and that Pacquiao was served up Morales instead?
Yes, it was wrong. However, it is typical Arum. He promotes certain fighters like they are rock stars (Hispanics and in this case Filipinos) and allows the others to sit on the shelf (African-Americans). When was the last time you heard from Mike Jones? Jones has 25-30 fights and still is nowhere close to receiving a title shot from anyone. If he were Hispanic, he would have had three title shots by now. Why do you think Floyd Mayweather bought out his contract and left Arum? If he had stayed with Arum, Mayweather would be fighting for $5 million per fight like Pacquaio instead of the $40 to $50 million per fight that he gets now.

There were threads about this subject after Raheem beat Morales. I know because I created one of them and there were plenty of real boxing fans who were calling for it. Raheem was nothing more than a warm-up for Morales. Arum thought it would be an easy fight for Morales and already had the Morales-Pac fight set up at the time. In other words, he did the same thing he does now. He already had Pac/Margarito in the works before he created the phony second negotiation with Mayweather and the countdown clock to con the gullible Pac fans and boxing writers. He never had any intention of negotiating a Mayweather/Pac fight. Before Pac/Margarito fought, he had Pac/Mosley lined up next, even though he claimed he wanted to negotiate a Mayweather fight. And after Pac/Marquez III, before a reporter had a chance to ask a question, Arum said he wanted to stage a fourth fight without even entertaining the idea of a Mayweather/Pac fight in May (and that was before he started with the excuses about the stadium and Pac's injury and the phony investors he was talking to). And then he refused to even sit down to negotiate the fight with Richard Schafer.

Now, he has already said he will stage Pac/Marquez IV after Pac/Bradley, which means, once again, he is not even entertaining the idea of a Mayweather/Pac fight. That will change after Bradley schools Pac's ass the way Raheem schooled Morales. Then, he will either try to stage a rematch or, if Pac informs him he is ready to retire, Arum will suddenly remember who to contact in the Mayweather camp to negotiate a fight and try to make the fight, so he can cash Pac out before he retires. Unfortunately, the Pac worshippers will never be able to see through the rose-colored goggles that they wear.

King Raheem's style was the reason they didn't fight...STYLE...while Raheem was styling on the great Morales, Manny was in the back watching the monitor with the "shocked" look on his face...too much oil for Manny

as far as Raheem's lost to Funeka...so much bs happened the week leading up to that fight that I'm suprised it actually did happen...I heard crazy stories about that trip to South Africa

                  Didn't care to see Raheem-Pacquaio.

All the Raheem-Morales fight showed me is where Morales was in his career.

                  Raheem is terrible, IMO.

                      An off night? Really???

After the Raheem lost, Morales lost 3 straight. then retired. did he just have 4 off nights in a row????

                      Alfaro,Limond, Lorenzo,Cano

Since his Pac victory.. these are the only people that he's beaten. Hell, he lost to David fkn Diaz!

I'm not saying that Raheem would beat Pac, but I would've liked to see it. At least after the Pac-Morales II fight. Their third fight was destined to be a lopsided victory for Pac.

I mean, between the Morales fights, he beat up on Oscar Larios.... mind you, this was Larios coming off of a tko loss to Vasquez at a lower weight. I know the fight was stopped because of the cut, but from what i remember, Vasquez was puttin it on Larios. Not to mention, Roach had cornered Vasquez for that fight!

I know Raheem was at 135 when pac was still fighting at 130, but i'm sure team Pac coulda requested some sort of catch-weight ... right????

                      .... the fight coulda happened.
