Was it wrong that Raheem didn't get the Pacquiao Shot over Morales?

I don't think Pacquiao had any mandate to fight Raheem since he was still at SFW.

Maybe he should've fought him when he moved to 135 instead of Diaz. I cant remember what Raheem was doing by then tbh.
Raheem beat Morales in 2005, Manny moved up to LW in 2008. There were better fighters to fight at 135 than David Diaz. Manny should've fought Raheem in 2006.

Instead, in 2006 he fought Morales twice, while Morales was coming off a loss. And he fought Larios, who was coming off a KO loss to Israel Vazquez. So in 2006, the FOTD fought two fighters coming off losses.

If you wanna say he should've fought better comp at 130, then maybe yeah. And yeh there were better fighters at 135 and he should've rematched JMM immediately.

But I dont think he had a mandate to move up and fight Raheem in 2005/2006

Where the revisionist history really comes into play is everyone forgetting the weight issue then. People wondered if Pacquiao was a weight too high at 130, and were actually more convinced so when Pacquiao lost to Morales in the first fight. It's easy to look back now and say Pacquiao could easily have moved up to 135, and pretend it wasn't a real issue then.

The real issue is that he didn't fight anyone of note. Larios and Morales coming off that drubbing...yuk. Did he need to move to 135 and fight Zahir? No. He also didn't need to make a weight-drained Morales come down to 130 again (when he expressed severe reservation) and then instituted a weight penalty fee for Morales of about half his purse if he came in over the limit. Besides, he could have negotiated with Raheem for a weight that would've been suitable for both. They never looked in that direction.

Raheem was a tuneup fight. Why would Pac waste his time with someone elses tuneup?

Only Floyd does that kind of thing. Cherrypicking Baldomir and what not.

Do you think it was wrong that Raheem was never in the running for a fight with Pacquiao, and that Pacquiao was served up Morales instead?

No! What is wrong is starting a thread about something that avoids any comprehension of something called a TIMELINE!!!

                  - Manny had just just moved up to 130 and lost his fight to Morales. Think about that one before asking that question.

                  - Morales thought about trying out 135 division and lost to Raheem. Again, remember that Manny had just come up to 130 and lost.

                  - Manny fought at 130 and fought guys like Barrera, Morales, Marquez and more for several more years before he moved up to 135.

                  - By the time Manny went up to 135, Raheem had lost and had no title .... then got KOed.

                  - Manny took on a title holder who also beat Morales in Manny's FIRST FIGHT at 135.

                  - People are still talking about how long it took to give Marquez a rematch and were calling Manny a coward. Imagine if Manny never fought Morales who he really lost too? Especially if Morales came back and performed better than he did.

There are too many holes in this Raheem story and it gets shot down every single time but it never stops Floyd fans from bringing it back to life .... incredible!

Marquez was a tuneup for Mayweather's return and Pac then fought Marquez...again. Mayweather KO'd Hatton and afterwards Pac fought Hatton. Mosley KO'd Margarito and afterwards Pac fought Margarito. Margarito KO'd Cotto and afterwards Pac fought Cotto. Mayweather beat Mosley like a drum and afterwards Pac fought Mosley. Cotto beat Clottey and afterwards Pac fought Clottey.

If you count the Morales fight after he was beaten by Raheem and the Larios fight after he was KO'd by Vasquez, even a Pac worshipper can see that Pac doesn't fight tuneups -- he fights washed ups!

Except that none of those fights were sold as tuneup fights. They were PPV events.

                      Morales/Raheem was a tuneup.
