Just a personal opinion, but Roy Jones for me. The guy looked unbeatable for years and years. Manny is a great fighter, but he hasnt looked unbeatable or as dominant as jones did in his heyday.

You also have to factor in Floyd when you consider Manny as he is his main rival for that spot. Manny has achieved a lot more than Floyd and has been involved in the better fights, but its paper thin and totally subjective as to who is the better fighter.

    Just my tuppence worth.

During Roy's prime, De La Hoya, Mosley and Hopkins all held the P4P King title.

Why do you think this was?

The P4P title is often held by a welterweight, do we downgrade the other weight classes?

I was referring more to Pacquiao longevity regarding dominance, as the P4P King, though over than reign the only guy that gave him any problem was JMM, he hardly dropped a round against all the other opponents.

The main asset about the guys he fought recently, Marquez aside, is that they are proven elite fighters at welterweight and bigger than him - quite significantly in the case of Margarito.
No they are not proven "elite" fighters LOL.

Magarito, Old Mosley, Clottey these guys are not elite especially by the time Manny fought them but I guess that's ok because they where bigger....... Right

The only resent opponent who wasn't shot to **** or coming off bad performances was Marquez and look what happened there the majority think he lost!

P4P means different thing to different people. It depends on who you ask. If you are talking about ring Magazine's definition i.e. their ratings, then yes maybe you can make a case for Manny. What he has done has been remarkable and he is a great, great fighter, just as are the other names you mention.

As I mentioned earlier only 10 fighters in the last 29 years have held the position, so a very select group.

Roy seem to enjoy putting on a show more, having fun, and have many other gears to move up to as oppose to Pacquiao and Mayweather who take things very professionally in the ring.

Maybe it has a bit to do with popularity, because though Roy was much the better fighter, more exciting to watch, his number paled in comparison to Oscars's.

Always felt Roy should have promoted himself better, and sought the popular big fights, I know he had fought Hopkins, Toney and a past prime McCullum but a fighter of his stature should have had much more mega fights. Missed the chance to fight the G-Man as well.

Or maybe the memory of post-Ruiz Roy is effecting people's judgment of him

Thats some pretty fair points there. As a fan I just found him dazzling, I watched him in the Olympics and knew he was going to be a great fighter. There are others he maybe could have/should have fought and I would have loved to have seen him against Eubank as that would have been a very interesting style match up.

Pernell really sticks out for me as well, the bloke fought all his rivals and was a sensational boxer. You know the more I think about this the harder it gets.

Yes Pac and JMM are little guys, only difference is Pac can beat big guys as he punches a bit fiercer than JMM.

But it makes me laugh when Pac haters make out as if when JMM was making life difficult for Pac equates to JMM beating a fully fledged WW.

Floyd should put a fat suit, or 12lb ankle weights on and try fight the current middleweight champ and see what it feels like if its no big deal.
