the size advantage will keep it interesting, esp at 154 but martines style, while effective against less physically gifted fighters, wouldn't be much of a problem for floyd. maybe a huge shot will shock floyd but most probably not. he'll pick martinez apart in the later rounds

      100%
the higher the weight the better for martinez. it will help him take the shots, keep him from leaving his gas tank in the gym from draining for weight, and move floyd around even if he lands on the gloves.

at 154 floyd would pick him apart rather quickly. martinez is 37 years old and he's been at or around 156-158 for some time now. i think the weight would drain him.

if floyd wants to show a real ballsack he can fight him at 160

walk into the ring at 153 like a boss and box the doors off of him.

It would be nice to see the Mayweathers put Jr in there with those who they say Jr would whup so easily instead of just talk.

We as fans need to see some put up or shut up.

          least hating mayweather

How did jeff like Oscars style ? Was it up to the know it all Mayweathers liking? I bet jeff thought his style was better than Oscars the night inexperienced hoya put it on him.

            Really?

I always thought Jeff was the one to go to if you wanted some quality knowledge on the sport. That said I think he's been eating a bit too much of that home cookin lately. When you say stuff like "Floyd is way faster than Sergio", or "Floyd is just on a whole other level", now your talking silly.

Don't get me wrong, I think I did agree with some aspects of what Jeff is saying in terms of style. I think Floyd is technically more sound no doubt. I think he could capitalize on fundamental mistakes Sergio makes... like keeping his hands down. I think if your being honest as a fight fan you would say that this is the fight that you want to see Floyd in.

I believe he would have to make use of all of talents to defeat a fighter like Sergio, and I believe he can. While I say that, I can also see Sergio knocking his head off. I for one got a totally different idea after watching Sergio's fight last weekend. I felt Macklin was doing a good job of using his feet and moving his head in the fight. He also wasn't totally committing to attacking Sergio, making it difficult for Martinez at least early on. Once Sergio figured a way to apply pressure to the guy, it was over man.

Martinez brings speed, power, stamina and an ability to mix it up, not to mention being a southpaw. He's rare bird in terms of athletic ability, and you can't discount that. It's really a great match up, too bad there's not enough money in it to lure Floyd.

I totally agree! I watched Sergios last fight 10 times, and it just showed me that floyd is probably the best pure boxer ever! Some haters will disagree, but just watch the tape on mayweather then go watch the other boxers. He's in a class by himself! Now sergio is a beast, and I would give him a punchers chance, but the only way I see mayweather losing is by tko, and thats very hard to do, because his defense is off the charts.

Really the other guy got tired and slowed down. Big props to sergio for finishing the fight, because I thought he was losing the fight esp. after the bull knock down. He showed the hart of a true champ, but I just see money picking him apart at 154, I also don't ever see him fighting above 154. For what? Go ask Roy what happen when he got out his weight class! He should have never left MW! Now his legacy won't be the same! But unlike Roy, money uses more boxing skill than athleticism, so he'll last longer!

The Mayweather's find Oscar's style much more appealing than Martinez. Oscar had true boxing skills / fundamentals that Sergio Martinez lacks big time. Oscar runs circles around Martinez as far as boxing skills go. Martinez -- his style lacks so much. He's in the same ballpark with Prince Naseem and Pacquaio. And everytime these fighters get into the ring with a boxing technician, they get exposed really bad.

Floyd tags Martinez all night long....until he gets tagged himself, with a huge left and he hits the canvas.

Dzinziruk is an excellent boxer and Martinez broke him to pieces. Cintron was a very good boxer, Martinez knocked him out. If his style was so horrible, he wouldn't be where he is, beating the people he has beaten.
