Oscar was/is the bigger draw! Here's the thing, Oscar's time was from the mid 90's to 2004. It isn't even fair to compare the numbers that Oscar did then to what Floyd is doing now. Let me break it down for you, pactards.

The question should read "Who has benefitted from their media exposure the most...Floyd or De La Hoya"
The way the thread reads now, I feel it's implied that bigger draw= better fighter and fights. Not exactly.
But as far as taking advantage of media outlets for the time, Floyd has garnered the greater exposure, positive or negative...that has equated to more PPV sales.

BUT I WILL SAY THIS....

Oscar was more of an event maker than Floyd is now. Regardless of numbers, when Oscar fought in his prime, it was an event that you had to watch and be a part of. Floyd is similar, but not quite the same. Maybe the bad guy performance plays against him in this respect, but there just isn't that same aura.

Come to think of it, it may be overexposure on the part of Floyd that keeps his fights from being as "gotta see it" as DLH's were back in the day.

And I say this as a 38 year old man who watched oscar coming up through the ranks even on espn back in the day.

This isn't even close! It's Oscar easy! Floyd usually needs other names or draws to do big numbers ala this next fight. Cotto and Canelo on Cinco de Mayo. Oscar was a draw like not other since Tyson.

Floyd has higher numbers. Floyd sold about the same number of PPV facing Victor Ortiz as DLH did facing Shane Mosley. That puts your little theory to ****.

Well thats not even a fair comparison. Reading this thread Ive learned that most people (especially **********) did not have cable TV or the internet in 2002.

Im sure in 1992 when Michael Jordan was playing, only about 5% of households had a TV, and half of those that did had a black and white TV which made watching the NBA less enjoyable than now.

Floyd isnt even usually the biggest draw on his own card. Canelo, Morales and Mexican independence day sold the Ortiz PPV, not him
