Is Floyd a bigger draw than Oscar was?

Oscar could fight John Loe and sellout the arena. "Who is John Loe?" Exactlly and he'd still sell tickets.
Floyd looks for the most popular fighter he could make money off and beat. Every-time its "he cant sell tickets so why fight him."
Oscar by a mile.Comment

Floyd vs equally well known opponents or has the support of Mexican boxing fans and star packed undecards brought the numbers. Floyd vs Clottey with the same undercards Pac vs Clottey had wont make 300,000 ppv buys. Oscar by a mile.Last edited by straightleft; 03-17-2012, 02:14 AM.Comment

I go to vegas for every floyd fight because they definitely are events for sure but I think Oscar has the edge for now by a pretty big margin ...he was a huge star. Chavez I, Vargas, Trinidad, Mosley 2, Hopkins, Floyd, Pac were massive events...easily million dollar sells with the abundance of people who have cable nowadays. but yea floyd has reached the point that if you were to match Floyd vs most of those guys today it will be million plus as well.
oscar only enjoyed things like the internet and 24/7 late into is career. with the internet fights like oscar/vargas and chavez, the hype would have been out of control
They both have created great events and brought in a **** load of money to those casinos from the gate to the ******** to room sales. if he was in his prime today today he's still be a cash cow, there'd be 3 million dollar PPV guys around.
Oscar was both loved and hated somewhat like Floyd (i think floyd gets more pure hate because of racism).....anyway Olympian, mexican heritage, he was bilingual, and he could fight. that a lot of ingredients. it would be great for boxing if he was still around as far as stars go .
if he was still prime and as popular today there'd still be big $$$ matchups for him to make outside of pac and floyd. Oscar/Martinez, Canelo , Oscar/Chavez Jr, Margarito.
anyway hope the best is yet to come for floyd......cotto will be a good event. there are two mega matchups with pac and martinez he could make in the future, and others that will present themselves in the coming yearsComment

You bashed the other guys for putting it into context (because today's media and PPV situation is different than Oscar's prime), but then when you find out that it's actually Oscar with the highest number, you start doing it yourself. That's such a lame response mate. The question was pretty simple. Oscar is still the single highest PPV draw in boxing history so far.
Now someone else is making excuses and bring in certain contextual analysis. Damn, that Floyd love is strong.Last edited by BennyST; 03-17-2012, 02:37 AM.Comment

they had ppv when tyson was around so cut it out...and online was around when oscar was here too. Floyd wins again!are boxinscene really this ignorant?
I'm serious
you guys are either all 10 year olds or trolling.
You guys are comparing a guy who didn't have the luxury of online media exposure to a guy who's now fighting in the era of online media exposure as never before.
You guys are comparing a guy who fought in a era with a dozen other stars to a guy who's now in a era with one other legit star.
Trust me on this a prime Mike Tyson now wlil do 4 million a fight..
So is he bigger then Ali?
A Prime Ali now will sell 9 million a fight ppv probably, so let's calm down here about PPV.
The world watched tyson and oscar, most countries dont have that PPV stuff.
Floyd realistically dont even draw as much as vitali klithscko if you count in sheer number of fans watching .Comment
