He's not as good as Ohba (a travesty of exclusion), was more consistent but against lesser opp than Kingpetch, and not quite as good as Yuh or Gushiken IMO. His recent currency could help, but we'll see. He didn't fight in the U.S. at all and the IBHOF voters are overwhelmingly American.
I don't think he deserves to be inducted personally.

He's been a good fighter and consistent fighter but his resume is simply not at all strong enough.

Him and Pone Kingpetch are in utterly different leagues IMO.

Pone Kingpetch not being inducted into the HOF is beyond a travesty.

They imply Sonny Boy is a puncher. Somewhat but he's not a one shot good night type of guy.
He caught him cold and Won never really got his legs back from what I saw. Looked slow in spots too.

      Like a Flyweight at 34.

Yeah, he's a tough call. Have to thin the herd a little for me to vote for him considering who is on ballot. I'll have no problem if he gets in but there are better Fly's not in yet, not to mention other fighters generally.

Yeah, key here. 2 fights ago he was beastin.

It's just hard to imagine making that weight for so many years when your bone density is adding mass slowly.

He's so experienced, it blows my mind.

Time catches us with hooks and straight right hands eventually.

dude, pong's been around for almost 20 yrs, at freakin minimum to flyweight. who does that at his level?
I was very surprised by his performance against Sosa. But even then, I knew he didn't have long left.

Like I told Shadows, I was hoping he would retire soon.

I was praying that the fight with Segura wasn't made. Segura would have brutalized him at this point.

pong cleanly outboxed sosa, but sosa's best moments were late and he won some late rounds.

I'm not sure if he will get in, it ultimately depends who is up for the Hall in a given year, though I feel he's fallen a bit short.

At the very least, we can say he was one of the very best flyweights of the last twenty years or so, up there with (and probably just below) Johnson and Arbachakov.

                  Those were the day's.

Now, since he's lost (We called this how long ago?) we get 9 pages of replies about how Wongjongkam's a bum and was never good I find it funny, honesty.

I can see the same thing happening with Moreno. I really do. Just check the last Moreno thread, how many replies? 3? 4? Something like that.

We actually have guys here implying Wonjongkam wasn't on the decline.

                  That's the way BS works!

Yup. Again. Chandler-Muniz? Johnson-Hernandez? Ish happens and age sucks. Anyone calling Wonjongkam a bum is clueless.

                    • Damn, I just watched the highlights.

                      He looked absolutely terrible.

Visibly bad before he was even peppered with shots.

I am still in shock though.

                      Just wow.
