Sure, his heritage may add novelty to an already compelling story, but you often see other athletes receive similar kind of attention. Just look at the attention Venus Williams received when she came on to the scene (a black chick from the hood excelling at a mostly white upperclass sport). Hell, even the Jamaican bobsled team are household names and they suck balls. lol

You don`t know what context floyd mean`t it in.

Floyd isn't right at all. If he had any basis of truth in this, Jeremy Lin would have been getting attention before now, just because he is Asian. He's getting hype because he's playing for the New York freaking Knicks and he is leading them to wins. Him being Asian is something they jumped on after the hype started, it didn't create the hype in any way.

Lin is not the norm and to a certain extent, he has everthing going against him, and just like lots of other sports, people try to gravitate to individuals that go against the grain and are the underdog. I really dont give a **** if Lin was black, white whatever this kid has got me watching basketball again since the 90's..

and he went to harvard i read! not bad half the nba's full of thugs n stuff! stop knockin the little yellow guys hustle! i seen him run up and down that court more then your "black players" (not makin it a racial thing) but the kid is good!
The league has also become a lot more watered down since the MJ/Iverson eras. There was also much more physical defenses allowed in MJ's day and dating back. Now, you can drop 30 just by going to the line (unless you play center for the Magic).

Also, it's a great system that Lin is working in. You could take any natural PG (no, not Marbury, Douglas, Shumpert, Billups, etc...) and they'll thrive in D'Antoni's scheme. Nash did it and won two MVP's... D'Antoni left and so did the Suns chances of making it to the finals.

Douglas is an undersized two-guard. Thrived at FSU but in no way will ever transition to the PG. Same with Shumpert at GT. Heck, in his first game he was ******* up more ill-advised shots than Bryant does. Billups, again, not a natural PG. Don't get me wrong, Lin is a nice PG. A naturally unselfish, PG. A team player... but if you switch him with John Wall, Wall would be just as good if not better in the system that Lin is working in now. Switch Lin with Rubio, same deal. You could switch Lin with Scoop Jardine at 'Cuse, Skip as the AD at that Texas HS that he also coached at, any pure point guard and the same results can be achieved in D'Antoni's system.

"Larry Bird is overrated in a lot of areas. I don't think he's the greatest player. He's way overrated. Why does he get so much publicity?" Rodman continued. "Because he's white. You never hear about a black player being the greatest."
Wow, never heard that before. WTF is wrong with these racist blacks? Larry Bird is the best pure basketball player the world has ever seen. The guy's game relied very little on athleticism and he did what he did all on pure skill and intelligence. There is no excuse for it, there is nothing holding blacks back anymore from doing whatever they want today, why some still got that racial chip on their shoulder?
