has there been a massive decline of boxing in New Zealand with a huge rise of rugby popularity? If so, then sure that could explain why there aren't too many heavyweights coming out of New Zealand.

But something tells me it doesn't quite compare to the massive decrease in quality fighters coming from the US and the massive decline of boxing in general in the US. Which was the point.

If New Zealand was dominating the heavyweight division for years, or at least pumping out a constant flow of quality fighters, for it only to suddenly fall the **** off over a span of 10 years, then it's a great comparison.

New Zealand is a country of 5million people, its gonna be very hard for them to "dominate" other countries at any sport.

The point is that a lot of NZ rugby players could've maybe been HW boxers.

Yanks are not the only ones in the world that lose potential fighters to other sports.

what does that say about the talent pool in rugby?
the american talent pool has a tenure in the division, where they were dominant.
no country other than the states can make the argument because they never dominated the division before losing out on all of their large athletic talent
