when did new zealand dominate at HW?

because americans have dominated the HW division throughout most of it's history
and only recently have they has the talent been pulled away to other sports that are easier to access.

and if you guys seriously think the athletes in rugby can hold a candle to the athletes in the NBA and skill players in the NFL i seriously suggest you take a better look at athletes in the sports

the difference between the two arguments:
one is completely bogus (new zealand's rugby league being responsible for the lack of talent in the HW division)
and the other is not (The NFL and the NBA being responsible for the lack of talent in the division)

How tall was the average American HW champion from 1900 to 2000? I'm guessing well under 6'9"

you're talking about height as if it's a bad thing?

come now, you've got to do a bit better than that.

              Ali 6 foot 3
              Holmes 6 foot 3
              Holyfield 6 foot 2
              Louis 6 foot 2
              Dempsey 6 foot 1

              Marciano 5 foot 11
              Tyson 5 foot 11

All bonafide greats. Not a single one even approaching 6 foot 9.

almost all of them were taller than their peers. marciano and tyson and frazier were the only short great HW champions

johnson was a monster at 6'1"
                likewise with dempsey at 6'1"

both klitschkos happen to be 6'6" or so and they're dominating the division

before them it was lennox lewis, again, getting close to six and half feet tall with a whopping 7 foot reach

if you want to find a league of guys built like the prototypical dopplegangar of a HW you want to look at the NBA

height is an advantage in boxing
the population has never been at the point where athletic men are approaching that height

                now they are

being that tall if you can remain athletic, coordinated, and healthy is an advantage

                notice a trend?
                HW champs are getting taller!

                imagine that haha

                cmon, man

do you want the fat american slobs out there?
or the premium athletic talent, which is now hitting 7 feet tall and 260+

this is a no brainer. you've got to watch the NBA, man. these guys are not too tall to box. is that why you're trying to say?
i'm having trouble figuring it out because honestly it makes no sense to me

relying on a sturdy chin and footspeed

again, by your logic, a 6'3" hw is as tall as they're going to get,
that's right up the NFL's alley

There's this guy ... Clemente Russo he beat 6'7 Deontay Wilder at the Olympics, Russo is the HW champion at the World Series of Boxing, where the best HW amateurs fight, he's a HW amateur fighting Super Hw's in the WSB

He will be fighting at HW and not at SHW in the Olympics because his friend and gold medallist Camerelle will be there

Russo is 5'10 3/4 and weights 209, when he fights the Super HW'S

In this fight they put his real height, at the Olympic websites he's listed at 5'11, and at the WSB page he's listed at 6'1

The HW FINAL in this fight he had 30 pounds of disadvantage, his opponent is 6'3 here
