  • no, pacquio fears having to fight someone on even terms

    • The real question is why does Cotto feel he needs a significant weight advantage over Pacquiao to have a chance against him?

      • Pac always looking for an advantage. Mayweather already shows he's willing to go up to 54 to fight. regardless, they both whip cotto at 47-54

        • We all know what will happen:

They will agree a bullshit catchweight - let's say 151 then Manny will show up at 144 and slowly pick apart Cotto until a late stoppage/TKO.

Oh hang on. We saw that fight already.

          • Cotto is posturing, he's fighting Manny again

If the Mayweather offer was substantial he would haven taken it

Bob must be offering Miguel a hell of a deal

            • Cotto is just stalling, cuz Bob is desperate and nows he needs Cotto more than Cotto needs him.

Cotto will not go below 150 tough, thats for damn certain!

I hope he's not trying to cash out and only consider a Pac or May fight. Or is it, the opposite, maybe he just wants the challenge? Pac would be a great win on his belt to negotiate a Mayweather fight with afterwards. Cuz if he does it now, no way does he make as much $ as if he beats Pac first.
Cotto is being smart by waiting out Floyd and Manny. He knows that if they don't fight each other, he is the next biggest payday. He just redeemed his first "L" and allot of people think he only lost to Margs thanks to plaster. That means their is only one person who has a real win over him. Unlike many of Manny's other conquest, Cotto has been able to rebound and his pride isn't hurt because he knows the weight drain had a big impact. If he plays thing the way he is now, he will get a big fight with Pac or Floyd, most likely Floyd.

Right now Cotto is king of the 154 division which is the most stacked. The only person he is required to fight is Austin Trout, unless Cotto decides to vacate the WBA title. The amount of credit he will get for beating someone like Kirkland or Alvarez will be good for mainstream viewers but not as much by hardcore boxing fans. If he beats them, it will be more like, "He still has it" rather than, "Wow, awesome win!". The problem with Alvarez, Kirkland, Trout, K-9, Molina, etc is that they haven't fought each other yet. In terms of skill and who is the best out of the top prospects, we don't have a clear view, just hype and mismatched fights. While I favor Austin Trout, James Kirkland is the only boxer taking the hard road to the top. If he wins his next fight, he should be the one to go against Cotto, based on accomplishments. If based on hype, Saul should get the fight. Though, I guarantee, a win over Kirkland will do much more for Cotto's ranking among real fans.

A fight with Chavez Jr. will be risky due to going up so much in size. If he wins, it will be solid since allot of people count him out of the fight now, based on Juilo's last performance. It will also be a big draw, another sale-out at Madison Square Garden and would give Cotto more power at the negotiation table.

How is 150 an advantage for Cotto? Cotto is the champ at 154 and is going down to 150. Manny is making Cotto come down from 154 to 147, who really has the advantage here?

Cotto and members of his team are evaluating two possible scenarios - a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, or a rematch with Manny Pacquiao on June 9th - also in Las Vegas.

HAHAHA, no one fears you Cotto!... Your new PR manager is great though.
Manny said no more >147, even before he stepped in the ring with Margarito at 150.

If you don't want to drop down to 147, then be it... nobody wants to see you get pummeled by Manny again anyways.
Go fight Floyd at 154 and get potshotted to submission, I'd actually pay to see that.
