  • Cotto: "Does Pacquiao fear me?"
    Me:

Not only does Manny fear Miguel, he also has Freddie Roach check under his bed for Ricky Hatton and in the closet for David Diaz when he tucks him in at night

Why is it that Arum and Cotto think anyone wants to see this pointless repeat of a one-sided slaughter? Is there anyone out there who would pay $60+ for a rerun? You can see the inevitable result on youtube before it happens, for free

Honest and serious question, can Capetillo or any trainer teach him or counter-punching at this stage, or do you think Cotto has enough counter-punch ability? Or would the key be a certain strategy? Either way, I'm sure counter-punching has to be part of that strategy to beat Pac. Cotto would have a challenge keeping to a certain strategy like that. Trying to KO him the first time was not working. I think he would do better than the first fight but at this point I'd rather see him vs Chavez Jr. at 154 or even higher, nice and healthy like he really wants. Sergio fights in March, so he's out for now. Unless they reach a deal with Floyd, but if Floyd rather fight someone else, like Canelo, than Cotto can go for Jr. if he wins. I don't care how much Jr. outweighs Cotto, he's not good enough, and doesn't hit hard enough. He might box better than Cheato but that aint saying much. Cotto would body that kid. Leave Pac for Bradley for now.
Cotto wasn't as patient in their first fight as he would be at 154. Without hydration, you want the fight to end as soon as possible which is likely why he was trying to go for the K.O. Honestly, I see Cotto pulling off a win at 154, Freddie, Bob, and Pac may see the same thing. People think that Cotto is over the hill, but they clearly don't see that it is just an adjustment to his fighting style. The fight against Ricardo shows his ability to stick to a game plan for 12 rounds/until the fight is over.

People who box and understand boxing will look at the people Pac fought at 150 and realize that the caliber isn't close to what Cotto brings to the table. Pac isn't going to go into the fight swinging his arms like there is no tomorrow. At 145-147, sure, but at 150 - 154, he is going to be iffy due to Cotto's power. Unlike JMM, Cotto won't have to counter the entire night. He is going to be the bigger, stronger fighter. A clean hit will make Manny back peddle. JMM didn't have the same kind of power.

It also doesn't help that Pac doesn't have great defense. He will have to rely on his speed and offense being enough to keep Cotto at bay. It won't work at 150+. Manny will need a new game plan and Freddie doesn't have one for him, so they decide to say no to anything above 147.

no not at all...but i do believe that pac is the one who initially wanted the rematch being that arum had the visit with him and mentioned the 4 fighters, not to mention pacs own wife spilled the beans and cotto denied the discussions at the time...that i do believe. its come from the source (cotto) and the other source (pacs wife) i believe thats pretty damn accurate! i could care less what floyd, or neone else tweets cuz im almost 100% sure its their PR ppl who handle that..

But even if Cotto weighs 154 and Pac comes in at 145 or whatever weight he feels comfortable at Pac will win. Cotto is very good and exciting to watch but Pac is at another level, same with the Floyd, It would be exciting to watch Cotto vs Floyd but Floyd would pick him apart and probably knock him out late.
STOP it. Cotto don't get stopped late by guys like Mayweather. He got stopped by Pacman, arguably the best offensive boxer of this era. And a man we know had plaster in his wraps the first time. Margs' pressure hasn't been effective for **** since the first Cotto fight, resulting in very bad, consecutive losses for him. It's common sense; who tries to cheat vs Mosley and not Cotto, when Mosley already lost to him and you are the favorite? Floyd might pot shot his way to a UD but if Cotto gets to him he's having a long night. Floyd is great, and I would say that his style doesn't present big problems for Cotto, but it does, because he doesn't have a style, he adjusts, and that's true. That's some real Bruce Lee **** and so is his stance and defense. I've studied JKD, and admit Floyd embodies a lot of things the Sifu teaches. So I'm not saying Cotto would win but when's the last KO May got? Hatton, and Hatton is a no defense, come forward brawling bum, just like Ortiz and Gatti. No technical boxing skills or defense. Cotto would have beaten all three. His defense is vastly underrated. BC a man doesn't have Mayweather defense doesn't make him wack, look at Pac.

Tough trainer, renewed confidence, his vigor back in the sport, and 154lbs??? C'mon, that's going to be a very different fight to say the least. Team Roach and May see this. So does Steward, hence his comment on Cotto beating Pac now. All this = A WAY MORE DANGEROUS COTTO

            • I dont care who wins in Floyd vs Cotto but Id like to see two guys, at good weights with no weight gain or loss issues go at it.

The hell with Pac, he shouldn't even speak until Arum (the puppet master) tells him to speak.

That's a good point, I agree with you. I think most people want him in with someone like Kirkland, Alvarez, Chavez Jr., etc. Will he get any due credit for any of those wins though? I hope he's not trying to cash out and only consider a Pac or May fight. Or is it, the opposite, maybe he just wants the challenge? Pac would be a great win on his belt to negotiate a Mayweather fight with afterwards. Cuz if he does it now, no way does he make as much $ as if he beats Pac first.
