    Maybe this is true...

But let me ask you this... If Leonard never went life and death with Hearns, squeeked by Hagler, and lost to Duran, but actually "dominated" all 4 fighters (i.e Duran, Benitez, Hagler, and Hearns), would you still feel the same way?

I ask that because I think Roy doesn't get his just due against top fighters at the time because he dominated them so easily... I'm thinking "maybe" if he went life and death with them, people will rate his wins much higher.... No, I'm not talking about his first life and death fight with Tarver, but other fighters as well.....

But, I'm not trying to change the subject, I think Leonards resume is damn good; I don't know about GOAT though, but he's up there.

Let's see off the top of my head:

Hopkins, Johnson, Tarver, Toney, V. Hill, C. Woods, Ruiz @ heavyweight, and I'd even throw Paz in there.

It wasn't so much who Jones beat, but it was how he beat them.. Jones won all of his fights hands down before he met Tarver, after fighting for like 16 years undefeated...

      Blasphemy???? Come on man.
Yeah man. That Paz win takes him over the top.

man, leonard was way too big & skilled for floyd. Like I always said if Leonard fought today Floyd & Pac would have only climbed up to 140 pounds max. You have to realize floyd/pac, they are small WW's. We are in an era of small WW's. Leonard was a big welterweight, so was Hearns and even Benitez and others at that time.

but roy NEVER fought anyone as good as hearns, leonard, hagler & duran. Hagler >>>>> Hopkins. Hearns >>>>> Toney. Etc.

HUGE difference in level of opposition man, it's really not even close.

The thing is, for me there is no Hagler (great fight), Hearns (****ing Great fights), Duran (the baddest mother****er), Benitez (the ****ing radar) quality of opponents in Roys resume, i dont care if Roy struggled or not, Roy was so damm good that he make the fights really easy, yeah, but he never face the quality of opposition of Sugar.

side note, Tarver? i ****ing hate the dude, the second fight should never happend.

I simply stated my opinion....and I know it would be one that most would disagree with, even before I posted.

With that said, don't you think that same argument could have been made against Duran when he was still at LW, prior to his first fight against SRL?

I know none of them fight the same, but I can easily see the "SRL is too big, too skilled" and SRL is the reason Duran will/would stay at LW because SRL is too good.

Sorry I simply don't buy that argument about them not moving to WW because of him, although I could see SRL beating both if they fought.

Awww man, I think that's highly debatable...

I'm not even a Hopkins fan like that, but I know some people who would rate Hopkins on the same level as Hagler.

                Let's see Hearns and Toney??

Man, that's a tough one. I think Toney was the better technical fighter though. Again, that's debatable.

But I wouldn't go as far as saying that it's a HUGE difference. A huge difference for me would be comparing Pazienza to Duran, but not the bolded above.

Honestly, at the end of the day, I think we'll have to wait until Hopkins, Toney, and Jones all retire to see how they'll be looked back on just like people did with Hagler, Hearns, and Leonard.
