Yeah because they punched hard. Now name all the heavyweights who punched like Louis.I can name plenty that didn't .

Hard enough to smash a mouthpiece in? the extra weight on the gloves isnt just "padding" It can still be done today, if smaller gloves gave fighters so much more advantages then you would hear stories like these all the time from the past like Joseph said... can you name me instances from Louis's time of punchers doing this????

Everybody knows that triangle theories are unreliable.

If you can't do any better than a half-assed triangle theory we're done here.
Maybe you can't understand the correlation between the Louis, Schmeling and Vitali point I was making so I'll break it down for you. If a 192LB just average fighter with no serious power can ko Joe Louis, so can a way above average giant modern heavyweight with the best ko ratio of all time. It's not that difficult to grasp man.

Definitely not, but what's your point? Byrd did nothing but make Vitali miss and was never in the fight.

Just to make a quick point, Marciano and Dempsey since you think you are smart. The gloves do make a HUGE difference. Look into it if common sense fails you.

As time goes on things are expressed verbally more and more and not recorded in news papers, etc. Back then everything had to be written down, therefore exaggeration took it's toll over time. Nonetheless, it's obvious that Lennox hits quite a lot harder than Louis did and it doesn't even take a real boxing expert to know that. You are starting to worry me.

anyone that thinks that Max Schmeling was an average fighter needs a punch in the face.

You'll now provide evidence that Schmeling was "just average" and not better than the great majority of Vitali's competition? Seeing as how you're uncomfortable with a straight comparison, that is...

                    Vitali EASILY DESTROYS Louis.
