A Pacquiao rematch would be especially insulting, since Cotto was already severely beaten by Manny in a one-sided affair. A Mayweather bout wouldn't be much better; Floyd would box Miguel's ears off. Cotto has seen better days, but he can still bring excitement...just not against the top marquis names.
    this right here,,,,,,,,,,

    • I'd give Cotto a good chance against any fighter. He's good at learning from his mistakes, he went in the fight with the attitude that he was bigger than Pacquiao and tried planting his feet which allowed Pacquiao to tee off on him. The second time around I'd expect him to be lighter on his feet.

I'd still see Pacquiao as the favorite but I think Cotto would pose Pacquiao more problems this time around. It's a fight I'd like to see anyway, I found the first fight exciting and is in my honest opinion a credible win on Pacquiao's resume.

Also at 150lb Cotto should be more comfortable than Pacquiao.

      • well pac didnt have loaded gloves... if cotto wants it, he would have to go to WW.

but theres no way cotto beats pac. hes getting too overconfident with this margo win. pacquiao moves unlike rito. hes in for another rude awakening.

If the money is there.... I see people biting it.
I wonder how much Cotto made in this fight views wise?
If he has strong numbers... Arum will try and make this down the road... I have no doubt about that. I bet if Cotto wins the MW belt from Chavez Jr... he'll try and match him with Pac for his 9th weight division belt, lol

Cotto although many here may not agree i believe has a good shot of beating Manny the 2nd time around. He just needs to execute the right plan this time and i think he may have it in the bag. By the time he knew how to fight Manny by the mid rounds, his body already took its toll so he wasnt able to execute it. 2nd time around i think he knows what to do.

Now Cotto has a very very small chance at Beating Floyd. Like VERY small.

Now imagine it in Cottos mind. A win against Manny which i think he got a respectable chance in winning, will launch him into superstardom after everyone has counted him out based on the first fight. And from that point forward make even more.

Or lose to Floyd, then get low balled by Canelo and fight in Mexico?
like you said hypothetical. if cotto manny 2 is at 154 and there is no rehydration clause then you might have a point.

That said I think more people would buy floyd cotto 1 then manny cotto 2. How do you market a second fight? There is no angle, other than full weight.

              Is the revenge thing sellable?

              • So now Manny loses to guys he embarrassed, because of the close fight he had yet again with JMM?

I would love for Manny to rematch Cotto, this time Manny will kill him infront of his people and family. No mercy.

He doesn't use loaded gloves but he's using a weird, questionable style the other guys aren't using. That whole wrapped gauze (in the form of a string) thing between the knuckles irks me. I didn't see Cotto or Marg doing that...

OO i agree that Cotto-Floyd will sell more than Cotto-Manny II.

But Manny wont be asking for a 40million garantee like Floyd will be, hence the pie will be better distibuted. Manny usually get like 22-25mil garanteed, and give a better split to his opponents.

You are mixing things dude. Floyd gets $25 mil as a FIGHTER and additonal as THE PROMOTER because he pays for things up front. Floyd is essentially Bob and Manny.

Its like floyd v ODH. ODH's $50 mil wasn't just as a fighter, but as the promoter. He paid floyd about $10-12 mil plus ppv sales. He paid himself $25 mil plus ppv sales.
