Let me ask you all a honest imaginary question. Let's say Floyd beats Pac in their first fight by a close margin (1,2 points). Would he rematch Pacquiao two more times? Or just say "I beat that 'little one dimensional midget' - time to move on"? You might want to remember Pac had the balls to fight his worst opponent not twice, but thrice! And he beat him everytime! Not one single judge gave the third fight to Marquez says it all IMO. He wasn't even Knocked Down once but still lost.
Is Pacquiao, Arum, Roach, and Team Pac ducking Mayweather???

To a certain extent, you are right. Yes, Arum wants to maximize the potential earnings he can get out of Pac. What you failed to address is the possible reason why Arum prefers a fight with Marquez first rather than Floyd.
It has been widely reported that Pac intends to run for governor in May of 2013. That means he only has a little over a year left before retiring. That means he may have only two fights left.
If he has only two fights left, they have to be the fights that would give the highest earning potential. In all the possible fights there are available for him out there, there are only two that would satisfy that requirement, A Marquez lV first, then the fight that the public have been salivating for, a Floyd match. Doing the Floyd match first would defeat the purpose of making the maximum gains. A marquez lV after Floyd would be anti-climactic especially if Pac loses to Floyd.
In this scenario, Pac will move on the next chapter of his life with a big war chest that can finance several of his political campaigns in the future.Comment

Manny is very, very, very easy to hit. He will be especially easy to hit by the most accurate puncher in boxing history. If a slow, plodding, barely active fighter like Joshua Clottey can land on Manny at will then you kinda get the picture of what Floyd will do.There really nothing in that statement other than you praising Floyd's skills while downgrading Pac.. How is he gonna beat Manny?? Because he is a better boxer.. lol..JMM is a better boxer and he still cannot beat Pac clearly.. Floyd has fought all styles.. Really.. Has he fought the style of a guy who actually moves and brawls at the same time. Not to mention who is quick and has a solid chin.. Pac got outboxed with JMM taking a lot of risk, and he still couldnt beat him convincingly..
Pacquiao's been knocked out twice. His chin has stood up fairly well, but the fact still remains he's been knocked out twice.
Marquez is the better boxer and he's now beat Manny three times.
If you can't spot the fact that you're being an apologist for Manny, then, well... I have no idea what to tell you guy.
Dude, this is just ridiculous.... He fights Manny two years after Floyd outboxes Marquez. He didn't overwhelm Marquez with size or weight he carefully outboxed him. Yet somehow, two years after that Marquez is in better shape and can handle the weight better? That makes no sense except to someone who's trying to justify Manny's pathetic opponents over the last few years. Keep tryin'...Sure.. But that doesnt changed the fact then when Pac fought him, he fought him straight up.. Meaning he didnt cheat in the scales, he didnt fake an injury.. You said that Floyd's victory was better than Pac..JMM was actually more acustomed to the weight, in better conditioned when he fought Pac.. And I am sayin' this based on the fact that Pac fought all 3 versions of JMM.. JMM in his prime, JMM at his best weight (130, he was having weight problems at 126), and who is accustomed to the weight...Floyd didnt fight JMM in any of those 3 versions...
.
Huh?
The only person(s) making excuses are Pacquiao fans. I like how you have a rather selective list of Pacquiao's opponents. With names like Clottey, De La Hoya, Cotto, Margerito the only people that are whining are Bob Arum and Manny Pacquiao now that some of his fans realize that he's a protected fighter these days and will not get into the ring with anyone truly dangerous, unless it's a mistake like last Saturday night.JMM-Pac I and II was a 50/50 fight going in. Cotto and Hatton were the same with a slight advantage on Pac (2 to 1 odds).. Barrera I, Morales II, Dela Hoya, Ledwaba fights showed Pac as a huge underdog.. Its not match making if the fighters are actually dead even in odds going in. And its even more pathetic to say that if Pac was the huge underdog. What you are doing is actually whining and excuses...Thats why I gave May full credit in his fight with Mosley.. Anything else that he has done recently well.. meh...Comment

what happened to the only guy that can even stake a claim to having a close fight with May when they had their rematch?...Let me ask you all a honest imaginary question. Mayweather didn't need a third fight...Manny is gonna need a fourth...Comment

For 2 years now. All the talk about Floyd being scared and they b*tched out. The REAL coward has been exposed. The overly hyped media made fighter that was built in the shadow of Floyd Mayweather has been exposed and the entire boxing community knows this.
The fight EVERYONE wanted to see is not and will not happen because Team Pac knows they can not beat Mayweather. Bob Arum KNOWS Pac would have NEVER beaten Mayweather.
This fight will never happen. If Pac looks that bad or even worse in the 4th fight he will retire. Mayweather "won" his fight, Pac "won" his fight. The fight should happen... Since Pac bowed to the knees of Mayweather, the "fighter of the decade" accolade needs to be stripped from him as he is not worthy of such an award. The truth is out, the media hyped run is OVER.Comment

Joshua Clottey hit him best because Pac actually tried to initiate a fight out of him because the fight was turning in to a dud (and it did). He didnt have to do that because he was winning anyway..
Dude, that was in mid to late 1990's.. He is getting hit by a much heavier handed fighters now, and nobody has come close to actually knocking him down. Not even when he was gushing blood in his first fight with Morales..
Really now since when did Marquez beat him 3 times. Because as far as I recall Pac is 2-0-1 against Marquez. Even those who thinks that JMM got robbed in the 3rd fight saw it as 7-5 for Marquez, with 6-6 being acceptable.. The first 2 fights was fairly even fight.
Yes it does makes sense because Pac actually honored his contract with Marquez by fighting him at the agreed upon date, and the agreed upon weight. Not to mention Marquez was able to hire a better coach to carefully monitor his conditioning. He didnt have that when he fought Floyd..

I dont need to justify his opponents, because their credentials speak for themselves. Margarito, Mosley, and Cotto were the top WW when Pac came in and made WW his division. And he fought them and beat them.. You can say that Pac had them in their downhill career but at least he still fought them. Floyd never even tried (except for Mosley)..
You know what I mean. When the fight is perceived to be competitive before the fight takes place, then thats when you know that the winner should get full credit. And when he is an underdog before the fight, then he should deserve even more..
How can I make excuses when Pac has been winning. What excuses should I make for Pac winning. He has been undefeated since 2004..Its more like those who doesnt like Pac are the ones making excuses for his opponents.

Pac fought Marquez, Dela Hoya, Hatton, Cotto succesively (with Diaz squeezed in the middle). All those 4 fights were 50/50, or Pac the underdog.. And you still have to include the fights he had with Barrera, Morales, Marquez in the lower weights..
If you want to complain about his last 4 opponents then feel free to do so. But Pac had more competitive fights in the last 6 years compared to May..
Really who was the last fighter (other than Mosley and Hatton) that Floyd fought were people thought that the fight was either 50/50, or that the he was the slight favorite BEFORE he fought them.. Nada..none..Last edited by mikemurni; 11-15-2011, 11:46 AM.Comment
