    • Why all this hate on BHop? It's not his fault he got tackled and screwed up his shoulder. Everyone acting like He was faking the injury but what if he wasn't? He even said he woulda fought with one arm if he could. When he was down he was saying that he wanted to fight with one arm but the doctor said no. Go back and rewatch.

lol when doesn't hopkins "grimace' in pain?! come on natas he QUIT. . . he saw a way out and took it. . . he's trying to maximize his income at this point, and he knew he was getting paid regardless, and would be able to fight on for more money. . .

if he had a separated shoulder, he would have YELLED IN PAIN when they pushed that ice pack on his shoulder. . .

How in the hell did he fall out anyway? The ref barely touched Hopkins and Hopkins flew out of that ring like a rocket. And what a coincidence, Allen was winning and roughing Hopkins up before all of this happened/

Literally every pocket fight. Hopkins flopped and lost his title this time.
Actually, shoving off with your shoulder to create room is technically illegal, but they are very lax on enforcing the rule.

The fight should be a NC.
I agree with the NC, he wasn't trying to hold his head down in that instance. He had done so earlier in the fight, but look at the momentum of Hopkins punch, he leans and Dawson ducks underneath. Hopkins' arms were going back into his stance before he was thrown. He didn't have time to shove his head down.

It was probably a reaction from what Bernard was doing a little bit earlier, you can't blame Dawson for that so to say, but it shouldn't have been a TKO.

NC is the right call and we agree (for once)

It was the momentum from the punch and Hopkins was trying to put himself into a position to where he couldn't be countered with a punch. Hopkins ducks down and then lifts himself up to go back into position. Dawson caught him at the right time and threw him off.

No contest, not a DQ or a TKO

              • Dawsons Reaction

Dawson's immediate reaction following the foul says volumes. He pointed at Hopkins in a dismissive manner and he seemed angry and his mannerisms were as if he did the foul on purpose and out of anger. It reminded me of when Barerra slammed Hamed's head into the corner buckle. Barrera did it on purpose and Dawson's reaction seemed very similar to Barrera's.

                • hopkins faking too much lead to this.

hopefully they will do an MRI and prove that hopkins was really injured and couldn't continue.

                  • B_Hop seemed to be in survival mode from the opening bell. I don't think he wanted to fight Dawson in the first lace but he wasn't ready to retire and didn't want to look cheap by dodging him again. Remember not long ago Dawson was the recognized champ at Light-Heavy and was asking for a fight with B-Hop. B-Hop would just say that Dawson wasn't a big draw and he only wanted big fights. I feel Dawson was trying to press the action but B-Hop was making it difficult with his gameplan. With all of that being said, I feel that the fight should have been declared a no contest. This was in no way a TKO. Chad was so pissed. I thought he was going to turn down the belt as he probably should have. I would not have wanted to win like that. If a rematch is on the table Chad should want it just as bad if not worse than Hopkins. Last thing I want to say is that if Chad Dawson displayed the kid of intesity and passion during his fights that he displayed after the fight tonight, then he would probably be sitting right up there with the top guys in our sport.

If it was anywhere else like Nevada or NY, those commissions do not like to admit mistakes, but CA will rectify mistakes when they have to. For ex. the Bradley vs Cambell fight and the Toney vs Rahman fight. Now if they reversed the Toney vs. Rahman fight when it was obvious Rahman could continue then this decision will be overturned.

The commission has several errors made by the ref to consider.
                      1. Dawson clearly lifted Hopkins up and threw him down which is an obvious foul, but the ref did not rule it as one.
                      2. The ref never told Hopkins if he did not continue then he would lose the fight by TKO.
                      3. The ref never called in the dr. to get his advice on Hopkins injury.
                      Very informative and thoughtful post.
