I wouldn't say it was better but this fight never had excitement written all over it and it certainly didn't look like it was going to be different than expectations.

If this kind of **** was going to happen in a fairly big fight let it be in this one I say, doesn't really concern me one bit that it was lost. Not like any casual fans bought it anyways~

The fact that the injury was the result of a non-boxing move makes it a virtual certainty that this will be overturned to a no-contest. I have absolutely no doubt that this was a legit injury, one which was the result of an accidental foul.

Bernard Hopkins will soon be, as he should, the reigning light heavyweight champion.

oh hopkins said he woulda fought with one arm! oh so since hopkins said it, the man who NEVER lies, it's believable! right?

he's puzzy in my book. . a fraud. . . disgrace to boxing. IF the dr.'s report shows it was a true separated shoulder, ill eat my words. . .

but i guaratnee if we see ANY kind of dr.'s report it will be something like "bruised" or something where the dr. simply has to take his word and can't be verified by X-rays

Hopkins has done this twice before in 2 Robert Allen matches. He may have though that no one would remember.

Get off your little high horse there little Brit.
You two morons typify the absolute idiocy in the anti-Hopkins, anti-fact stance.

The referee asked Hopkins if he could continue, Hopkins replied "yes". However, the referee made the call that since Hopkins had an injured shoulder he wouldn't allow the fight to continue. There was no quit on the part of Hopkins, nor a lack of willingness to continue. Hopkins should have been given time to recover, a minimum of 5 minutes, with the Dr. also being called to the ring to inspect the injury. That also relates to poor refereeing.

Here are the facts; Dawson committed a foul which resulted in an injury.

Also, I'm not a Brit, you moron. That just illustrated what a narrow-minded idiot you are.

if hopkins really wanted to continue the fight, he would've gotten up instead of milking the injury.

same thing happened to cintron. cintron tried to milk the injury by fake rolling around in pain, but once they put him on the stretcher, he started acting like he wanted to continue.

He didn't have time to shove his head down.

It was probably a reaction from what Bernard was doing a little bit earlier, you can't blame Dawson for that so to say, but it shouldn't have been a TKO.

NC is the right call and we agree (for once)

It was the momentum from the punch and Hopkins was trying to put himself into a position to where he couldn't be countered with a punch. Hopkins ducks down and then lifts himself up to go back into position. Dawson caught him at the right time and threw him off.

No contest, not a DQ or a TKO
That forearm on the shoulder is obviously there to put pressure on Dawsons back to tire him out. If he wasn't putting pressure, he wouldn't be holding himself up by his forearm.

He WAS trying to hold dawsons head down. Dawson stood up with him. THats cool. Thats how you deal with it. YOu don't however throw your guy.

This whole body slamming thing it being propagated by Hopkins fans. Hopkins was Dawson's back and Dawson pushed him off. And if someone was on your back, and you're involved in a contact sport, what would you do?

Would you kneel down from Hopkins weight, or would you push off?

Me, I am pushing off. Get off my back.

If you all want to kneel go ahead, but once you do that you're already giving Hopkins the advantage.

it doesn't matter if you thought he quit or not the point is that's not a tko victory and it should be a NC. At the very least, and this is my opinion, the ref should have allowed more time for hopkins at least to recover, he was way to quick to make a ruling then just bounced out of the arena. Like I bring up the Echols fight, same exact thing happened. The difference was he had a couple minutes then he fought with one injured arm.
