Moot point. Hopkins should have never been laying on him in the first place. Hopkins decided to feint injury and paid the price for it. End of story. It's history now.

Both fighters start slow, it's really hard to tell what happens in two rounds, I think Dawson would have eventually picked up the pace.

Thats very out of Character for Dawson. He started just like he always does. He said he was gonna come out and bring the fight. He followed Hopkins around pawing at him. Same **** he always does.

Sanctioning bodies cannot overturn decisions. They don't have any authority besides ordering a immediate rematch.

It's the commission that overturns official wins or losses, that we see on boxrec, when we wanna act like we know every statistic.

They can choose not to recognize the decision though. Soto-Lorenzo I, controversial ending where most believed Lorenzo was exagerrating his injury, awarded the DQ win. The WBC didn't recognize the decision and didn't award Lorenzo the interim WBC belt.

Do you think I actually care that Dawson won the belt? I could care less. I don't care if it was a NC, I don't even care if Dawson was disqualified and Hopkins got the belt.

in round 2 it would have only been a NC. So I don't see any logic in hopkins faking an injury just to get a NC. if it was past round 4 then you'd have a theory but not in round 2 and especially considering dawson didn't land any significant punches on hopkins. According to compubox, they both landed 5 punches total. I just don't see the logic there. maybe he was milking for a point deduction, maybe he was hurt. Definitely no winner should have been declared though.

Hopkins has done this twice before in 2 Robert Allen matches. He may have though that no one would remember.

He also did it in an Antwun Echols match, pretending he was dislocated to fake Echols in. When it didn't work, he went back to using it a round later.
