What about Joe Calzaghe then?... He's defended his title 18 times over 8yrs. Unlike Hopkins, Calzaghe is unbeaten and has a much higher KO percentage.

Why is it one rule for Hopkins and another rule for everyone else?
cause he's Hopkins the executioner...just kidden u got a very good point in this post..Calzaghe is a great fighter no doubt..props to him...and yeah mayb Glenn was a little green but then again i figure he was in his prime round then..my opinion is Lacy is the best fighter around in that area of weight division

I think it's a big "IF" Bernard beats Taylor... I think Taylor will beat Hopkins more convincingly this time, because he's not intimidated or overwhelmed by Hopkins, and will be more inclined to jump on Hopkins!

But if he does beat Taylor... I think he should just retire anyway. He could take the winner of Calzaghe vs Lacy though?

But I can't see him beating either of them.

hmmm opinion respected..course i will argue the loss to Taylor just a bit, for i believe exactly the opposite, but not doggen u for your opinion by any means..but i think hop went in believing all the Taylor hype which is why he was way too slow to act, when he realized this kid wasnt invincible he attacked and did so very strongly..theres no doubt that Taylor will b great, and no doubt he is close to being there, i just think he needs one more lesson..and man i hope he dont have 2fight Lacy that would suck, Lacy may murder him i would hate that

I think you don't really know your history.

Hagler fought better competition than HOpkins did.

Monzon was more dominant than Hopkins. Through Monzon's career nobody had any doubt who the best middleweight was. Even guys who Monzon destroyed like Nino Benvenuti were better fighters than any opponent Hopkins had short of Tito.

The best middleweights are a tie between Sugar Ray Robinson and Harry Greb.

Given Greb's success against bigger great fighters like Tommy Gibbons, Tommy Loughran and Gene Tunney.....I would have to give the edge to Harry Greb.

hmmm i'm not disagreeing with your choice of great middleweights, but to compare people from this age to another as far as opponent comparison is irrelevant unless they face each other, as times change so do styles and even rules, Greb was great, but as i said times change, we are now bigger and stronger due to technology

I love that my man, that's the best Hopkins excuse EVER!

He starts so slow that you know you'll get at least four rounds out of PPV. I like that one!

Seriously though, I can't remember a round where he engaged against the Nuff Tumper. It was just hit and run all night. Not escapology... hit and run.

And also due to the fact that the weigh in is not on the same day as the fight.

Why else do you think the average height of middleweights before the 1950s was 5'7. While the average weight of a middleweight today is 5'11? This is not due to technology as you said.

De La Hoya was so far out of his weight class @ middleweight, he even (realistically) lost his 1st fight at middleweight to Felix Sturm because of it.

And the size difference between De La Hoya and Hopkins in the ring was laughable.
It was almost like that video Slipx uploaded of him and his neighbour, wasn't it?
