If he beats Taylor, I think he should retire.

Someone was talking earlier like Taylor's size was some kind of X-factor that Hopkins couldn't deal with.

Hopkins is a great fighter, but he's pushing his luck fighting at this age.

I thought he edged Taylor in the 1st fight.

Not sure what will happen in this fight but if he wins he should retire imo.

What if he KOs Taylor brutally...which I think is highly possible..

IF he fought Lacy which would be a BIG risk, and did win, that would be CRAZY! That would maybe put him in #1 but it's a BIG BIG BIG risk...

PS. You should let me borrow some points Maybe like a 1/10 fraction of what's in your pocket

          Sven Ottke.

He won and defended the super middleweight crown 22 times over the space of 6yrs with a record of: 34-0-0 He also unified the division.

Now, bareing in mind that Hopkins two "career defining fights" came against a guy that 1st one a world title at super-featherweight, and the limited welterweight - Trinidad. Who's more deserving of hall of fame status?

          Ottke or Hopkins???

What I'm trying to say is, Hopkins did a good job of hanging onto the IBF belt for all those years, and I dunno how the IBF let him get away for so long with fighting Echols twice and Allen 3 times... Desperatly hanging onto the IBF belt for that long doesn't impress me that much. It's who you fight that makes you the champion you are.

          Segundo Mercado
          Steve Frank
          Joe Lipsey
          William James
          John David Jackson
          Glen Johnson
          Simon Brown
          Keith Holmes
          Carl Daniels
          Morrade Hakkar
          William Joppy
          Robert Allen
          etc etc etc...

This is not the resume of a Hall of fame fighter... If this sanctioning body crap does it for you, fair play... But not when you have guys like Morales and Barrera active at the same time as Hopkins fighting anyone and everyone!

            The thing is man..

MANY times, Ottke has gotten gifts LOL

but Hopkins has hardly lost any rounds in his whole reign.

Ottke only did it for 6 years, avoided other fighters, and arguably lost several of those fights.

                Try again.

I said find someone who's dominated for TEN years, facing all comers, and done so in a dominating fashion.

The fact you'd mention Ottke is a joke. He did none of those things.

Anyone notice how it seems to be only Brits who have their knickers in a knot here?

You said that's not a hall of fame resume.

                You're wrong. Flat out.

Hopkins is a lock to make the hall. It's gaurenteed.

He stayed at Middleweight just like Hagler and Monzon did, and fought everyone that was avaialable in those years.

Oh, don't bring up the race angle.

Why did you have to bring up the race angle for?

The only two "Brits" that have posted are me and Martin. So if Jack and Giant One posted would I go "Notice how it's only black guys that are saying this?" Oh man, that's cheap and not nice.

Shrugging off people's opinions because of their race... uncalled for.

BUT - as I said last night - me and Martin are seeing the fights with the original commentary, but none of the **** that goes with it. For example, I saw a clip on here of The Best Damn Sports Show... where the entire crew were sucking Bernard's **** and saying he's the best fighter on the planet p4p. Now... he ain't even top ten, be serious. But if you're seeing that being said on TV time and time again it's an influencing factor.

But dismissing a poster's view because of their race... man.

Oh, catching up with the thread, I always smile when people talk about how Hopkins needs to cement his middleweight legacy by moving up. But if he's moving up then he's no longer a middleweight, surely?
