But that means him fighting for another 3 years with no vacations... Therefore it's not happening.
so who does he bump down? robinson? armstrong? Pep? Greb? b Leonard? srl? Ali? the list goes on. How is he even remotely close to being greater than anyone of those?

Good point, I don't know.. Guess he doesn't rank higher than those fighters.

He would never attempt it so why discuss it.

            45-0

5 time lineal champion in 4 divisions
He'd certainly shut any remaining critics the **** up. To be honest, if his win over Mosley didn't do it, I don't think much will. There's always SOME excuse as to why he picked an opponent, why he beat them, yada, yada, yada.

Right now, the two fighters being called to handle Mayweather are either Martinez and Pacquiao.

I am almost certain that IF Mayweather beats those three opponents you mentioned(by the time he's accomplished it maybe 1 and a half or two years from now), someone will be around being pushed as the THE guy Mayweather is ducking. Sadly, that's just the way it is.

List of potential candidates that will be regarded as "fighters that scared Mayweather into retirement" by the end of 2012 or mid 2013:

            Canelo (young, undefeated)

            Angulo (might get past Kirkland)

Chávez, Jr. (for ****s and giggles)

Cotto (I personally don't see it but there's always someone pushing this fight, even today in 2011)

Margarito (supposing he looks every bit as dominant as he was in 2008 against Cotto)

            Timothy Bradley (fast, young, undefeated)

Massively hypothetical scenario. Not only would he not beat Pacquiao or Martinez, but he would never deign to fight either of them. He doesn't even want to give Ortiz a rematch, for Christ sake.

the only one you could logically make an argument for is margarito. cotto is a blatant lie and clottey is a bum.

Lets not forget Langford, Charles, Gans, Fitzsimmons. More fighters that could keep him out of the top 15 could be Moore, Walker, Tunney, Ross, Canzoneri, McLarnin, Saddler, Ike Williams, Duran, Burley. I don't think a lot of fans today realize just how deep some of these guys resumes are. Floyds a great talent and could fight with the best in history, no doubt. But his resume has some holes in it and besides 130 he never came close to cleaning a division out. But IF the scenario Larry laid out were to happen I think I'd be hard pressed not to have him in the top 20. To some that may sound like an insult, but for those who know their history I think they'd agree that is quite an accomplishment in this day and age.

Well he wanted to fight Cotto at 140, but when the fight was being discussed at 147 Floyd said no because "Cotto needs to build his fan base". I always found something wrong with that since Cotto was seen as the best fighter at 147 and had an excellent following. Floyd would have beat him, but it still looks like a duck to me.

Beating Amir Kahn gets no credit from me, but fighting those other two guys will help stem the sour taste from ducking Margs and Cotto back in 07-08
