Now Floyd isn't at that point yet, but he will get there.

To the people pointing out he's still peaking because he hasn't taken a lot of punishment in the ring, i.e. getting punched... need to take into account the overall toll of training.

Training is wear and tear on the body, on the joints, and the muscles. Floyd has seemingly been training since he was a young boy.

Those knees have a lot of miles on them, those elbows and fists have endured a lot of impact over the years... training over 20 years will break the body down, and Floyd trains like no other athlete aside from maybe Pacquiao.

You don't need to take punishment in the ring to not endure wear and tear on the body.

As he gets older, and recovery time drops dramatically, those training camps will get harder and harder... recovery time will take longer and longer, and the punches will start coming in faster and faster.
time catches up to us all my friend, I just happen to think Mayweather closer to his prime then to a serious decline in his physical ability. Not saying it wont take it's toll, just that so far it's hasn't stopped him from being able to take total control of his fights. I guess we'll have to judge where he's at after fighting Ortiz.

        Not necessarily.

I would say the ring IQ of the Floyd that fought Baldomir or even Oscar does not differ much from the ring IQ he holds today... although on the flip side... I would say he was much more closer to his physical peak, if not dead in the middle of it when he fought them.

        For all intensive purposes,

        Baldomir and Oscar:

        IQ: 91
        Physical: 91

        Mosley:

        IQ: 93
        Physical: 87

Again, this is just my personal opinion, and just what I personally see from watching him... but I would take the Baldomir-Oscar version of Floyd.

Especially when he was a much more active fighter.

After Oscar, the 15-18 month lay offs started. An active fighter is always a better fighter to me.

No one knows anything truly about what Floyd can & can not do in the ring. We all know he's the best at what he does & that for sure is enough for me to put my money on him to win. What surprises me though is Floyd can't do enough to satisfy those who think he sould fight whenever they pull an opponent out their a$$. All this talk of Martinez & hwo Floyd could make this much money to fight him. Crazy S$$t, like Martinez is in Floyd's class. People think Floyd should move up in weight, they want be satisfied until they can find someone to actually beat this man.

You may say he has losts things but he has gained others. Prime is not just to with one aspect of a fighter it is to do with the whole package.

So the Floyd that got a SD against Oscar was the best Floyd ever?

Everything I pointed out, I believe hasn't FULLY hit Floyd yet... he is still close enough to his peak where he beats just about everyone in my opinion.

If my opinion is that he is past his prime, it is not by much at all.

If prime is a 91, Id say hes at an 87-88... just a little personal example... the numbers mean nothing really.

                If Roys prime was a 95... he's at a 38.

I am saying he was closest to his peak between Baldomir and Oscar.

Moreso, Baldomir because he was not a natural 154lb fighter when he fought Oscar.

And you believe Floyd's prime only lasted for 1-2 fights?
