Seeing a lot of posters lately claiming Floyd is past his prime but I honestly don't get where this talk is coming from. Just because Mosley rocked him in a round? Wow, is Floyd not allowed to be hurt or lose a round because that'll automatically make him shot? Every other fighter gets stunned and loses rounds. Mosley was still a formidable opponent, the best welterweight and top p4p fighter coming off a great win. Or is all this talk stemming from another lay off and people are already assuming it's going to affect Floyd? All of these assumptions seem premature to me, let's just wait and see how Floyd looks in his return against Ortiz first.

He doesn't have the same speed and reflexes he had vs. Gatti
He makes up for it by fighting smarter and using his strength more.
No one is saying he's shot or anything.

He's been past his prime for a while, probably after the DLH fight.
Not as fast as he used to be, doesn't throw many combinations has he used to while still be definsivley good.
He know win's fights by being more disiciplined, his brain, defense & relfexes.
You can tell how much his speed has declined in the Mosley fight.

This is Floyd in his prime.
I've been watching Floyd for along time, some point in 2006 you can clearly see he was on the decline. He lost speed, his movement is alot slower, and he has a more defensive mind now.
Floyd is past his prime, but that doesn't mean he's shot. Far from it. Floyd is so good he can fight up well in his 40s if he wants too.

I agree, its not like he fights 2-3 times a year. He fights only when he goes broke and needs money, boxing is like Money Mart for him, need a payday loan? Sign a fight.
Fighting once every 2 years doesn't make him past his prime. Does make him a coward who doesn't care about boxing or his fans. I love my fans so much that I will fight once every two years and then go on vacation! unless I need my fans money, then I will fight again.

Well then I'll explain it for you.
Floyd is still an excellent fighter. He's the best technical defender since Whitaker and Benitez before him. But he doesn't move around the ring as well as he used to. He's also going on 35. Fighters don't stay young forever.
