  • i wouldnt think floyd is on the downslide as such.

Hes just changed his style slightly as his upper body frame and weight has increased,he cant move and make peole miss quite as well with a bigger target of his torso to be hit.

he may look not as great in fights as he is so inactive as well,he isnt getting better imo,not necesarily getting worse, but not consistent enough to actually improve his defense into offense and improve his work rate and larger repertoire of combinations.

i think finally fighting a top welter in shane was the reason why he got caught with big shots that rocked him, that was just shane smartly setting up shots and throwing his whole self into the shots to bring enormous power, floyd is tough,if shane hits berto ect with those shots, they be going down and staying down.

i wana see floyd lose, but i like him,i want him to lose,so he forgets this silly zero record rubbish, and finally is chain free from it,and fights top guys regularly, and has more guts/skills from coming back from defeat.

i wana ateast see floyd come back from real adversity and win big by KO.

do himself justice and live up to his skills in and out of the ring.

    • We also have to remember that Zab Judah who was comming of a loss to Carlos Baldomir gave Floyd much more problems than Shane Mosley, Judah also dropped Mayweather in the second but missed by the ref. Floyd also made hard work of Oscar who struggled with Forbes just 6 months later. Floyd made lost a lot of round against fighters that were nowhere near top class.

He is winning fights more comfortably now, but still the opposition is not top class.

Actually, what constitutes a fighter's prime is very subjective. This thread being 10 pages long would attest to that.

All I can say is he's physically bigger and stronger now than he was 5 years ago. You further my point with your take on his Baldomir performance versus his Mosley performance. He was overly negative with Baldomir because he was largely outgunned for size and strength.

Going by your criteria, Floyd has never looked better than he did at 140. Razor sharp, footspeed, handspeed, explosiveness, power- all with the defense in tact.

He's looked his all-around sharpest at 140 and 130, a complete package offense and defense. He took more chances counterpunching and threw lighting fast combinations.

I'd say Zab showed up for the Mayweather fight. Aside from how huge the opportunity was, the two had their own personal rivalry which I'm sure was added motivation.

Oscar also fought Forbes one year later, not six months, and did so four pounds lighter, at least officially, than he was for Floyd.

It depends on the fighter, Wladimir is just as fast now. Pacquiao I need to see how he does against Marquez.
